Ronaldo Achieved the Saudi Pro League Record for Most Goals Scored in a Season.

Ronaldo broke Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 34 goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Al Nassr against Al Ittihad, breaking the record for most goals scored in a Saudi Pro League season. (35)

He broke Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record for most goals scored by a player (34), which he also achieved for Al Nassr in the 2018-19 season.

The 39-year-old Portuguese forward smashed the record in his second season at the Saudi club, having joined from English behemoth Manchester United in January 2023.

While Al Hilal has won the SPL title with three games remaining, Ronaldo and his teammates will have one more chance to win silverware when they face Al Hilal in the King Cup of Champions final.

The victory meant that Al-Nassr finished second in the table for the second consecutive season, 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal but 17 points ahead of third-placed Al-Ahli.

Ronaldo has 765 goals in his 22-year career with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

He also holds the record for international goals, with 128 in 206 appearances for Portugal.

Ab Ki Baar, KKR, Kolkata Club Wins its Third IPL Title after Crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In the most unbalanced final in IPL history, KKR outsmarts SRH to win their first title since 2014, and Gambhir becomes the first captain and mentor to win the trophy.

Venkatesh Iyer was on strike, and the Kolkata Knight Riders dugout was on its feet as they were only one run away from a resounding eight-wicket victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final. The left-hander paddle-swept for a single, setting up loud celebrations in the KKR camp.

IPL 2024 Final: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

The entire team came out to celebrate with the two Iyers, Venkatesh and Shreyas, and the owners were overjoyed in the stands as their wait for an IPL victory was finally over. The cameras kept hunting for mentor Gautam Gambhir, who was busy offering bear embraces to the entire group while smiling broadly. The DJ instantly turned to Chak De India, and the party began for the Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL 2024 champions.

The IPL final has frequently been a rematch of Qualifier 1, and the title match of the 2024 edition was no exception. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the two most consistent teams during the regular rounds, but the Playoffs are a different beast.

Even the best in the business have found it difficult to dominate the knockouts, and SRH certainly faced KKR’s heat this year. Not once, but twice as after Qualifier 1 they were outsmarted by Shreyas Iyer & Co. in what turned out to be the most lopsided final in IPL history.

SRH just didn’t have enough runs on the board and became the first side to get bowled out in the final, that too without facing 20 overs. 113 – SRH’s third-lowest total in the IPL and the lowest total in an IPL final – was never going to pose any challenge to this KKR unit and mere formalities were left to be completed in the second innings of the match.

There was a consolation wicket of Sunil Narine early in the innings but just one-way traffic after that as Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz put on 91 runs in lightning-quick time to put the side on home stretch.

Bowling masterclass

The batting, however, was never going to be a point of discussion today as the night was set-up by the bowlers. KKR served a bowling masterclass in the title clash and Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in the league’s history, led from the front with a probing spell which put SRH on the mat.

Even before he bowled his first delivery, the quick was in the opposition’s head as Travis Head decided not to take strike. Starc had dismissed him the last time two sides met in Qualifier 1 and it was young Abhishek Sharma in the firing line now.

From the first delivery, there was enough movement and the fifth ball which came out of the left-armer’s hand was a ripper! Pitched on length, it swung away late and crashed into the stumps.

Abhishek stood shocked and the SRH dugout wore a worried look as celebrations began in the KKR camp. In consecutive games now, KKR clipped the wings of high-flying SRH openers and never allowed their innings to get any momentum whatsoever.

Head stayed away from strike vs Starc but was dismissed for a golden duck by Vaibhav Arora from the other end. Rahul Tripathi came and went, and the batters to follow had no answers to the versatile seamers of KKR. If Starc was moving them at a brisk pace, Arora had a nice natural angle into the right-hander and Harshit Rana was mixing his pace smartly.

There was just on respite from both ends and even when seamers were given a break, Andre Russell and the spin-twins – Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine – sustained pressure in the middle overs.

Pat Cummins & Co. kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never had a partnership going their way. It was just the second time in the IPL that six different bowlers picked a wicket. That’s how good KKR were in the title clash.

The only thing which didn’t go KKR’s way was the toss as they outplayed the opposition in every department to register a very comprehensive win.

Complete list of IPL champions and runners-up: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), captained by Shreyas Iyer, defeated Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets on Sunday to win their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title. KKR had won the IPL crown in 2012 and 2014, and they dominated this season, finishing first in the league stage with nine wins from 14 games.

The Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two teams that have won the IPL five times each. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Rajasthan Royals have all won once apiece.

“It was comprehensive,” said Kolkata skipper Shreyas Iyer, who also appeared in an IPL final for the Delhi Capitals in 2020, but lost to the Mumbai Indians.

“This is what we wanted of the players, and they stepped up. There is so much to be grateful for right now that it is difficult to put into words. There was no single person who led us here; it was a team effort, and it was a perfect season for us.”

Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat. But the Sunrisers were deflated inside the first seven overs as they limped to 47-4 against an impeccable attack of Starc, Harshit Rana (2-24) and Vaibhav Arora (1-24). Russell mopped up the lower order with 3-19 and Hyderabad was in danger of not reaching 100 before Cummins hit 24 off 19 balls and was the last man dismissed in the penultimate over.

“Russell has got a magic wand and he is looking towards me to bowl,” Shreyas Iyer said. “In the majority of the games he gave us breakthroughs.”

‘Not Injured’: Neeraj Chopra Pulls Out Of Ostrava Golden Spike Meet.

Neeraj Chopra was scheduled to compete in Ostrava’s Golden Spike event on May 28, however the organisers have issued a statement confirming that the Indian javelin throw champion would not attend.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has stated that he is not hurt. The decision to pull out of the Ostrava Golden Spike competition in the Czech Republic on May 28 is purely precautionary.

He claimed that during a training session, he felt “something” in his adductors. To avoid injury in an Olympic year, he has decided to forego the famous event.

The javelin throw champion was set to compete in the Czech Republic this week, but has now withdrawn. Neeraj Chopra was set to compete in Ostrava’s Golden Spike meet on May 28.

The promoters had already announced that the Indian javelin throw champion would not be competing in the event owing to an injury.

“The organisers took note of a message from Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.” He will be unable to throw in Ostrava because to an adductor muscle injury received in training two weeks ago,” according to the statement.

“He will arrive at the event as a guest,” it stated.

Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the men’s javelin final in Bhubaneshwar’s Kalinga Stadium with an impressive throw of 82.27 metres. He stopped after four tosses at the Stadium on Wednesday, May 15. The throw was significantly less than his personal best of 88.94m set during the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022.

“Don’t talk about the toss; it wasn’t up to par. “This is not one of my consistent performances,” Neeraj stated after the event.

“It was amazing to compete in India after such a long period. I wanted to play in India, therefore I performed according on the environment and how my body felt. I have a few important competitions coming up. “I thought DP Manu would take over, but his javelin kept landing quickly,” Neeraj explained.

Last year, Neeraj suffered a series of injuries and struggled with a variety of challenges. Neeraj pulled out of the FBK Games in Hengelo in May of last year due to a muscle ailment acquired during training.

WI vs SA Full Scorecard, West Indies vs South Africa by 28 Runs

WI vs SA West Indies, co-hosts of the T20 World Cup, started their last preparations for the competition off right with a decisive 28-run victory over South Africa, their largest margin of victory when they batted first. Since this was the first international match at Sabina Park in nearly two years, West Indies would be happy with their dominance at home. Neither team had their first-choice XI available, with some players resting or still playing in the IPL.

Setting the tone with a forceful 45-ball 79, homegrown Brandon King, captaining in lieu of Rovman Powell, established the tone. He also had a partnership of 79 runs at the second wicket with Kyle Mayers, who is not included in the T20 World Cup team. With scores of 64 for 1 in the Powerplay and 109 for 1 at the midway point, King was the backbone as the West Indies established a solid foundation. However, they lost 6 for 40 between the 14th and last over to finish on 175 for 8.

    SRH vs RR

TRAVISHEK vs BOULT: The “Travishek Express” has been stalled recently due to Travis Head’s consecutive ducks. Left-arm pacers have rattled his off-stump twice in a row—first Arshdeep Singh from PBKS and then Mitchell Starc from KKR. Head’s poor shot selection has been to blame. Powerplay specialist Trent Boult will be eager to exploit this weakness. SRH openers have been impressive, boasting a season strike rate of 11.48 runs per over in the first six overs. Boult, with an economy rate of 6.71 in the powerplay and nine wickets this season, will be a key threat.

IPL Qualifier 2: Chennai Pitch and weather conditions

The MA Chidambaram Stadium pitch is known to favor bowlers, especially spinners, due to its significant grip and turn. This spin-friendly surface poses a challenge for batters, limiting scoring opportunities and likely leading to a match dominated by bowlers. Teams may prefer to bowl first if they win the toss. Recent records support this strategy, as chasing teams have won five of the seven games this season.

Cricket fans in Chennai can expect favorable weather for the upcoming match. Though cloudy, there’s no chance of rain. Temperatures may reach 32°C, testing players’ endurance, but winds at 19 km/hr should provide some relief. Humidity will be around 76%, impacting both batters and bowlers.

IPL Qualifier 2- SRH vs RR: Team News

SRH can bring in Aiden Markram or Glenn Phillips for Vijayakanth Viyaskanth to strengthen their batting, with Mayank Markande replacing Sanvir Singh as the leg-spinner. If batting first, SRH can start with Head, Klaasen, and captain Pat Cummins, adding Phillips or Markram as needed.

IPL Qualifier 2- SRH vs RR: Who Will Win?

The Qualifier 2 is expected to be a high-octane tense clash with both RR and SRH vying for a berth in the final and their second IPL title. However, Chepauk’s slow pitch might give Rajasthan a slight edge because of their superior spin attack.
