The incident happened in the Ramban area, close to Battery Chashma, on the Jammu-Srinagar route.
On Friday morning, a passenger taxi on the Jammu-Srinagar highway near Battery Chashma in the Ramban area crashed into a canyon, killing ten passengers, according to PTI.
According to officials, the event happened at 1.15 in the morning while the car was traveling from Srinagar to Jammu.
Soon after learning about the accident, a team from the local police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the civil Quick Response Team (QRT) of Ramban arrived to the scene to begin rescue operations, according to ANI.
Despite the severe rain, the bodies of every deceased person have been located. Among the dead are the driver of the vehicle, Balwan Singh (47), of Amb Ghrotha, Jammu, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang (23), of West Champaran, Bihar.
