PM attacks Rahul Gandhi and says, “I’m angry” over Sam Pitroda’s racist statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over party leader Sam Pitroda’s controversial remarks, saying that the latter’s statement was an “insult to several people of the country based on their skin color”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over party leader Sam Pitroda’s controversial remarks, saying that the latter’s statement was an “insult to several people of the country based on their skin color”. Pitroda stoked controversy earlier in the day with his remarks that people in East India resembled the Chinese, while those from South India looked like Africans.

“I can tolerate it when abuses are hurled at me, but not when they are hurled at my people. Can we decide a person’s merit based on skin color?” he said while addressing a poll rally in Telangana’s Warangal district.

“No matter what the colour of one’s skin is, we are the people who worship Lord Krishna. I am very angry today. The people who keep the Constitution above their heads are insulting people on the basis of their skin colour,” PM Modi said.

“Who permitted ‘shehzaada‘ (prince in reference to Rahul Gandhi) to look down on my people like that? ‘Shehzaade‘ you will have to answer. We will not accept this racist mentality,” the Prime Minister added.

Further in his address, PM Modi also said that “since President Droupadi Murmu also hails from an ‘Adivasi‘ (tribal) family, the Congress tries very hard to defeat her” as well.

“I got to know that there is an ‘uncle’ in America who is the ‘philosopher’ of the ‘shehzaada‘. And just like the third umpire in cricket, this ‘shehzaada‘ takes his advice from the third umpire,” he said.

“When you gave the BJP a chance in 2014, we gave you a Dalit President, Ram Nath Kovind. Again, in 2019, we gave the country an Adivasi President, Droupadi Murmu.”

In an interview with The Statesman newspaper, Sam Pitroda said, “We could hold together a country as diverse as India — where people on East look like Chinese, people on West look like Arab, people on North look like maybe White and people in South look like Africans. It doesn’t matter. We are all brothers and sisters.”

“We all respect different languages, different religions, customs and food. That’s the India that I believe in, where everybody has a place and everybody compromises a little bit,” he added.

While the Congress immediately distanced itself from the “unacceptable” controversial remarks, the BJP slammed the “racist” statement.

In a tweet, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Pitroda’s remarks were “most unfortunate and unacceptable”.

“The analogies drawn by Mr. Sam Pitroda in a podcast to illustrate India’s diversity are most unfortunate and unacceptable. The Indian National Congress completely dissociates itself from these analogies,” he added.

When asked by the ANI news agency to comment on the Prime Minister’s Sam Pitroda reaction to Pitroda’s remarks, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said PM Modi talks about useless things only.

“He should instead focus on important things like employment, inflation, torture against women,” she added.

Among top BJP leaders condemning Pitroda, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the remarks revealed that the “Congress is inherently today focussed on dividing India, dividing Indians on caste, creed, identity and geopgraphy”.

On her part, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, “I am from South India. I look Indian! My team has enthusiastic members from northeast India. They look Indian! My colleagues from west India look Indian!

“But, for the racist who is the mentor of Rahul Gandhi, we all look African, Chinese, Arab and the White! Thanks for revealing your mindset and your attitude. I.N.D.I alliance’s shame!”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Giriraj Singh sought apologies from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a post on X, “Sam bhai, I am from the Northeast and I look like an Indian. We are a diverse country – we may look different, but we are all one.”

In Candid Rapid Fire, Rahul Gandhi Reveals Why White T-shirts are His Signature Attire, a Watch.

As campaigning for the remaining phases of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections intensifies, Rahul Gandhi shares candid reflections on the process, emphasizing the importance of ideology and transparency.

With the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 progressing into its remaining phases, political leaders are intensifying their efforts to secure support from the masses ahead of the crucial voting days. Among these leaders is Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, who has been actively engaging in rallies and meetings. Amidst his campaign trail, he took a moment to share some candid reflections on the nature of campaigning and its significance to him.

In a recent post on social media platform X, Gandhi shared a 2-minute-long video capturing snippets of his activities during a day of campaigning in Karnataka. In the video, he can be seen engaging in light-hearted rapid-fire questions and discussions with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Captioning the post, Gandhi wrote, “A day campaigning in Karnataka. Some light rapid-fire questions and some very illustrious company.”

When asked about his thoughts on campaigning, Gandhi humorously remarked that the best part for him is “when it ends.” Reflecting on the duration of his current campaign, which has spanned nearly 70 days, he emphasized the rigorous nature of political engagements, particularly citing his previous Bharat Jodo Yatra. Despite the challenges, he expressed a fondness for delivering speeches as they prompt reflection on the country’s needs.

In the video, Gandhi posed a question to Kharge regarding the positives and negatives of campaigning. Kharge responded by emphasizing the inherent goodness in working for the betterment of the country, highlighting the satisfaction derived from countering forces detrimental to national interests.

During a conversation with Siddaramaiah, Gandhi delved into the significance of ideology versus power in politics. Siddaramaiah stressed the enduring importance of ideology, emphasizing its role in shaping policies and garnering public support. Kharge echoed this sentiment, underscoring the sacrifices made by leaders in upholding ideological principles.

In agreement, Gandhi emphasized the necessity for political organizations to adhere to a clear ideological framework, advocating for a pro-poor, pro-women, and inclusive approach. He asserted that political battles, whether at the organizational or national level, ultimately revolve around ideological principles.

Switching gears, Gandhi addressed a lighthearted inquiry regarding his preference for white T-shirts, a signature aspect of his attire during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Responding with characteristic simplicity, he attributed his choice to transparency and a lack of concern for fashion, preferring simplicity in clothing.

The Lok Sabha elections are set to proceed with the third phase scheduled for May 7, followed by subsequent phases on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1. The election results are slated to be announced on June 4.

No Muslim League flag in Rahul Gandhi rally, Congress bashed from Left and Right

After a massive controversy in 2019, Muslim League flags were missing from Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Wayanad. Now, both the CPI(M) and the BJP raised the issue of the missing IUML flags to target the Congress.

Flag politics, which had gripped the nation during the 2019 Lok Sabha election, has returned in Wayanad.

The Congress is being attacked by both, the left and the right for the absence of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) flags at Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Wayanad on Wednesday.

The flags of the Congress and its associate, the Indian Union of Maharashtra, were absent from Rahul Gandhi’s roadshow in Wayanad after his nomination. The Congress flags were as well.

The Congress found itself in a situation where it was unable to fly the IUML flag in light of the events of 2019. Congress flags were missing from the roadshow as well because their absence would be noticeable.

Rather, the Wednesday roadshow in the hill district was dominated by balloons of the same colors, the Tricolour, and a few Indian national flags.

“The Congress has fallen to a level where it is afraid of communal forces,” Vijayan claimed at a press conference. Congress’s stand on the flag issue shows that it wants the votes of the IUML but would not acknowledge their flag, according to Kerala CM Vijayan.

Rahul Gandhi is dragged into the Mandi controversy by Kangana Ranaut, who says, “Hindu-Shakti.”

Nothing more is expected of the party, whose chief executive Rahul Gandhi has spoken of “destroying Hindu Shakti,” according to Kangana Ranaut.

Rahul Gandhi is dragged into the Mandi controversy by Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut attacked the Congress leadership during the opening of her campaign for the Lok Sabha election in 2024 in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. She brought up the recent issue that Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate caused by her “unwitting” remarks about Kangana. Kangana Ranaut claimed during her inaugural rally that the Congress began engaging in cheap tactics when they were unable to accept her nomination from Mandi.

“After receiving the BJP’s nomination, I was ecstatic. Who wouldn’t rejoice over a reunion like this? Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, speaks of “annihilating the shakti among the Hindus.” Their spokeswoman made horrible remarks regarding Mandi’s women. The location that hosts the largest Shivratri festival each year is the same Mandi, named after Rishi Mandavya, where Rishi Parashar sat in tapasya. So what more is reasonable to anticipate from them?” stated Kangana.

Kangana Ranaut will be running for office from her hometown of Mandi, and this was her first public visit there. It was anticipated that she would address the current controversy, given that Supriya Shrinate received a showcause notice from the Election Commission for her remarks about Kangana, which she later removed and denied being posted by her. Supriya said that her Facebook and Instagram profiles are managed by a large team and that the post was made without her consent.

Inquiring about how the post was created via Supriya Shrinate’s account, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena asked Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora for a thorough inspection report.

Given that the Congress has not yet announced a candidate from the constituency, Mandi is about to witness an intense contest. Virbhadra Singh’s wife, Pratibha Singh, is the current Member of Parliament from Mandi. She had previously stated that she would not run for office in Mandi, but once Kangana Ranaut’s name was revealed, she changed her mind and claimed the high command would make the final choice.

Rahul Gandhi made a Shakti statement on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which sparked a significant controversy. Hinduism uses a term called Shakti. One Shakti is what we are battling. The query is: What Shaktiki, is that right? The EVM holds the soul of the King. This is accurate. Rahul Gandhi stated, “Every institution in the country, including the ED, CBI, and income tax department, possesses the essence of the king.

After being accused of being anti-Hindu for his comment, Rahul Gandhi said that he meant Narendra Modi as the shakti.

Today, key Congress members will gather to approve the manifesto; the poll panel may clear more names.

The party’s highest executive body will also debate and vote on a motion regarding electoral bond data.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet on Tuesday morning for the last time before the general election to approve the party’s poll manifesto, among other things. In the evening, the central election committee is expected to clear the candidate list for the first phase of the polls scheduled on April 19, functionaries said.

Congress members will gather

The working committee meeting, set for 10 a.m., is expected to focus on endorsing the manifesto. The gathering is also anticipated to approve a resolution recognizing former party head Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14 and finished in Mumbai on March 17.

“There are numerous pressing concerns before the party. However, the CWC may be strained for time to examine all contentious issues because the major goal of the conference is to endorse the Congress manifesto,” a committee member said on the condition of anonymity.

The party’s highest executive body will also meet to examine and vote on the electoral bond data. The changes occurred a day after the Election Commission uploaded the data, which was one day before the Supreme Court’s deadline in the high-profile case. Between April 12, 2019, and February 15, 2024, around 1,260 corporations and individuals purchased 22,217 bonds valued at ₹12,155.51 crore.

During this period, 23 political parties redeemed 20,421 bonds worth ₹12,769.09 crore. The Bharatiya Janata Party led the pack with ₹6,061 crore (47.5% of total redeemed value), followed by the Trinamool Congress with ₹1,610 crore (12.6%) and Congress with ₹1,422 crore (11.1%).

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is set to be another highlight of the gathering, after Gandhi completed the east-to-west part of the march last year.

The party’s poll panel is anticipated to clear the remaining candidates for the first round of the election in 18 states and three Union Territories. The meeting was originally set for March 15, but was canceled because the main leaders were participating in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The Congress has cleared 82 individuals in two poll committee meetings. On Tuesday, it will focus on Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and other states.

Lalu Yadav prompts ‘Modi ka parivar’ campaign, Rahul Gandhi gave ‘Chowkidar’

Top BJP leaders have added the “Modi ka Parivar” slogan on their handles on the X social media platform.

In Short

  • BJP leaders add ‘Modi ka Parivar’ slogan on X social media.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president JP Nadda among those.
  • PM introduces slogan in Telangana public meeting

Top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, on Monday added the “Modi ka Parivar” slogan on their handles on the X social media platform. The development came hours after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav said at a rally that the Prime Minister “does not have a family of his own”.

Earlier in the day while addressing a public meeting in Telangana’s Adilabad, the Prime Minister said that his new slogan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls this year is “you are Modi’s and Modi is yours”.

He also said that the “entire nation is saying in one voice today, ‘main hu Modi ka Parivar’ (I am Modi’s family)”.

While addressing the ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday, Lalu Yadav had criticised the Prime Minister over his remarks on nepotism,

“People with more children are subjected to humiliation over the issue,” the former Bihar Chief Minister said, adding that Modi “does not have a family of his own”.

The new slogan is reminiscent of the 2019 “Main bhi Chowkidar Hoon” campaign which was prompted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remark “Chowkidar chor hai”.

The word “Chowkidar” gained prominence after Modi started using it when he became the Prime Minister in 2014.

The Congress MP had made the remarks while accusing Modi of corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.

Just before the elections took place in May 2019, the Prime Minister launched the poll campaign in March that year by posting a video on X (then Twitter) with the hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar.

Some of the other top BJP leaders who have put the ‘Modi ka Parivar’ slogan on their profiles on X include Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Piyush Goyal; and Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath, Vishnu Deo Sai and Pramod Sawant, among others.

In his address at the public meeting in Adilabad, Telangana, the Prime Minister also said that “crores of people of the country consider me as their own, as a member of their family”.

“I say this to the 140 crore people of the country that this is my family. Those who have no one also belong to Modi and Modi belongs to them.” the Prime Minister added.

‘UP Ke 2 Ladke’ Akhilesh, Rahul Gandhi Come Together For Nyay Yatra In Agra After Finalising Seat-sharing!

On Wednesday, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and SP chief announced to unitedly contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls under the banner of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in Uttar Pradesh!

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday joined Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra days after the two parties of the INDIA bloc finalised seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra welcomed the former chief minister for joining the yatra. Yadav had earlier said that he would not join the yatra until an understanding for seat-sharing is reached between the two parties.

According to the agreement, Congress will contest 17 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, which sends the maximum number of lawmakers from any state to the Lower House of Parliament.

POOR FACING INJUSTICE: RAHUL GANDHI

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the public at Agra amidst the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. He said, “If you are poor then you will face injustice in this country 24 hours… The reason for hatred is injustice, so we have added the word justice in our journey.”

Talking about the alliance’s objective for the country, Gandhi said, “It’s been a year since we completed the Bharat Jodo Yatra and walked 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. During that yatra, a person told me that ‘you are trying to open a Mohabbat Ki Dukan in Nafrat Ka Bazaar. Now, this is what we, along with Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are trying to do again.”

INDIA BLOC’S UP DEAL AHEAD OF LS POLLS

As per the deal, Congress will field its candidates in Rai Bareily, Amethi, Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Varanasi, Amroha, Jhanshi, Bulandshahar, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki and Deoria Lok Sabha seats.

Rai Bareli and Amethi used to be Congress strongholds for decades. The grand old party, however, lost the Amethi seat to the BJP in the 2019 elections and Sonia Gandhi, who represented Rai Bareli four times in Lok Sabha, will not be seeking re-election from the constituency after she was elected to Rajya Sabha recently.

PM Modi’s jibe at Rahul Gandhi for ‘nashedi yuva’ remark: ‘I was shocked!

In a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi said, “Jinke aapne hosh thhikane nahi hai, wo UP ke, mere kashi ke bachcho ko nashedi keh rahe hai”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he was shocked when he heard the ‘nashedi’ word used to describe the youth of Uttar Pradesh. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi said the prince of the Congress family said UP’s youth are ‘nashedi’. “They spent the decade abusing Modi. But now they are talking out their frustration on the people. Jinke aapne hosh thhikane nahi hai, wo UP ke, mere kashi ke bachcho ko nashedi keh rahe hai (those who are not in their senses are calling UP’s youth addicts)” PM Modi said strongly condemning the comment which Rahul Gandhi recently made during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Now that Uttar Pradesh is progressing, the ‘yuvraj’ of the Congress family said that the youth of Uttar Pradesh are addicts. What is this language,” PM Modi said adding that no one will forget this insult of the youth by the INDI alliance. “A person who belongs to a dynasty is always threatened by the common youth force. They only like those who always praise them. And now they have another reason to not like Uttar Pradesh after Ram Mandir’s inauguration. They do not like the new face of Kashi and Ayodhya. I did not know Congress had so much hatred towards Lord Ram. They can’t see or think beyond their family and vote bank,” PM Modi said.

On the INDIA bloc, PM Modi said they come together before every election and then abuse each other after they get ‘nil battey sannata’. “But they do not know that this time they will have to struggle to save even their deposits. UP has also decided to give all seats to NDA. The third term of Modi will be the strongest one in which India will see a new horizon in all aspects. India will become the third largest economy in the next five years,” PM Modi said.

Why Rahul Gandhi said UP youth are ‘drunk, addict’

When Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Amethi when his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was passing through his former constituency, he raised the issue of unemployment. “You (the youth of the country) have no work. You are only waving posters seeking employment (he showed one such poster held by a worker standing beside him). I saw in Varanasi that young men were lying on the road drunk. This is UP’s future — drinking and dancing on the road at night. On the other hand, there is Ram Mandir. You will see Ambani, Adani there but not a backward, not a Dalit. Why? Because that is not your place. Your place is on the street begging for jobs. Their work is to count money.”

It was the same speech in which Rahul Gandhi asked a media person whether the owner of his company was an OBC or a Dalit. Then Rahul Gandhi called the media person near him and said, “His owner is a billionaire and will never publish news about Dalit, unemployment. Paper leak, price rise, unemployment are your future.”

Rahul Gandhi ‘taken into custody for 30-45 minutes’ in defamation case, gets bail, says lawyer!

The case was filed by a BJP leader for allegedly making objectionable comments against Amit Shah.

Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on Tuesday granted bail by the Sultanpur court in a 2018 defamation case filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra for the former’s remarks against home minister Amit Shah. The court took him into custody for 30-45 minutes, said his lawyer.

Speaking about Rahul’s bail advocate Santosh Pandey said, “He (Rahul Gandhi) surrendered in the court today. He surrendered and the court took him into custody for 30-45 minutes. After that, his bail application was submitted and was accepted (by the court)… The further date has not been given yet. His lawyer said that he is innocent and he has not made any defamatory statement…”.

Pandey further said that Rahul Gandhi could be given a maximum punishment of 2 years if sufficient evidence was found against him. Rahul was granted bail by Judge Yogesh Yadav after filling bail bonds.

The defamation case was filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making objectionable comments against Shah at a press conference in Bengaluru on May 8 that year. Amit Shah was the BJP president when Gandhi made the remark. Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP and said that the party claimed to believe in honest and clean politics but has a party president who is an “accused” in a murder case.

Reacting to the development Mishra told ANI,”I was the vice president of BJP when this incident happened. Rahul Gandhi had accused Amit Shah in Bengaluru that he is a murderer. When I heard these allegations, I felt very pained because I am a 33-year-old worker of the party. I filed a complaint regarding this through my lawyer and this continued for almost 5 years…”

“The BJP is the biggest party of the country. Calling its (then) president a murderer is unjustifiable,” he added.
