Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on January 2. It addressed a long-standing need for a modern facility in the second-busiest airport in India’s Tamil Nadu.
The state-of-the-art terminal, was constructed at a cost exceeding $132 million. It has enhanced airport infrastructure and will ensure a seamless travel experience for over 4.4 million passengers annually.
Tiruchirappalli International Airport stands as the second-largest airport for international passenger traffic in Tamil Nadu, following Chennai. It is contributing to the region’s air connectivity.
The two-level terminal boasts a capacity to serve 3,500 passengers during peak hours, with 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, and advanced immigration and emigration facilities.
The Prime Minister’s Office highlighted the new terminal’s cutting-edge conveniences. It will elevate the Tiruchirappalli International Airport’s stature and facilitate smoother travel experiences for passengers.
