India’s COVID-19 Cases Live Updates: According to data released on Friday by the Union Health Ministry, India has seen 761 new cases of COVID-19, while the total number of active cases has decreased to 4,334.

Odisha now has two cases of the Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1, according to a report released on Thursday by the state’s director of health services, Bijay Kumar Mohapatra. Odisha had reported the first case of the JN.1 type on Wednesday. The two cases were identified in Bhubaneswar and Sundargarh; one patient has fully recovered, while the other is undergoing treatment. Samples that tested positive for COVID-19 are undergoing genomic sequencing.

Hospitals in at least four US states have reinstated mask mandates amid a rise in cases of COVID, seasonal flu and other respiratory illnesses. Healthcare facilities in New York, California, Illinois and Massachusetts have made masks mandatory among patients and providers. New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan told WABC TV on Wednesday that mask mandates had resumed at all 11 of the city’s public hospitals, 30 health centers and five long-term care facilities.
