Along with declaring that wealth distribution is solely a “policy issue,” Mr. Pitroda expressed concern for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in light of his comments regarding the Congress agenda.
Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, has supported the party’s stance on wealth redistribution and pushed for the implementation of an inheritance tax law in the nation.
Mr. Pitroda expounded on the notion of inheritance tax that is already in place in the United States, highlighting the necessity of policies aimed at redistributing wealth. “There is an inheritance tax in the United States. If a person is worth $100 million, the government will likely take over 55% of his estate and only be able to provide approximately 45% to his surviving offspring. What a fascinating law that is. It says that because you are leaving your generation and have amassed a fortune, you must leave half of your wealth—not all of it—to the public, which seems fair to me, Mr. Pitroda said.

You don’t have that in India. When a person with a $10 billion net worth passes away, his children inherit $10 billion while the general public receives nothing. People will thus need to discuss and debate these kinds of topics. Redistributing wealth refers to new laws and initiatives that serve the interests of the general public rather than just the very wealthy, the speaker continued.
‘Have concerns about PM’s brain’
Mr. Pitroda also said that the subject of wealth distribution is strictly a ‘policy issue’ and he feels concerned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he remarks on the Congress manifesto.
“This is a policy issue. The Congress party would frame a policy through which the wealth distribution would be better. We don’t have a minimum wage (in India). If we come up with a minimum wage in the country saying you must pay so much money to the poor, that’s the distribution of wealth. Today, rich people don’t pay their peons, servants, and home help enough but they spend that money on vacation in Dubai and London… When you talk about the distribution of wealth, it is not that you sit on a chair and say I have this much money and I’ll be distributing it to everybody,” Pitroda said.
To believe that way is naive. That is how a nation’s prime minister thinks. When questioned about the Prime Minister’s critique of the Congress platform, he responded, “I have some concerns about his brain.”
The Congress manifesto has drawn criticism from Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, who claim it smells like appeasement and that, should it win, it would redistribute wealth and provide Muslims reservations from the quota for the SC, ST, and OCB communities.
Pitroda also conveyed his dissatisfaction with Mr. Modi’s comparison of the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections to a “poll document of the erstwhile ‘Muslim League'”. Pitroda described the Prime Minister as a “pathological liar” and expressed his shame at him.
“I feel bad for them, and I find it amazing that they would say something so false. EC. The Muslim League is unrelated to this manifesto. My Prime Minister has made me humiliated. About the manifesto, his crew is telling lies. He lies like a disease. How can they feel at ease while lying through their teeth? Mr. Pitroda said to ANI.
Attacking the Prime Minister for his recent remark about “those who have more children,” Mr. Pitroda claimed that the BJP’s dread of what would happen after the first round of polls had caused them to make these kinds of remarks.”How could you disparage our women? It’s not like Muslims are having more kids. While PM Modi has the freedom to say anything he wants, he also has moral obligations. The law does not exempt him. It appears that you are unable to understand; I believe this could be the result of anxiety, as panic kicked in following the initial stage. The PM’s remark has infuriated India,” he declared.
