A 33-year-old Indian-origin woman has been charged with the murder of her 10-year-old daughter, who was found dead at their home in Rowley Regis, a town in the West Midlands region of England, on Monday.

Jaskirat Kaur, also known as Jasmine Kang, had been arrested on Monday at the residential property where her daughter Shay Kang’s body was found, reported PTI.

Kaur appeared on Wednesday before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court in England.

West Midlands Police reported that the girl was discovered with injuries at her home in Rowley Regis on Monday and declared dead at the scene.

A cordon remains in place at the property on Robin Close and a post-mortem is to be held in due course to establish the cause of death.

POLICE NOT LOOKING FOR FURTHER SUSPECTS

The investigation is on with a post-mortem examination scheduled to determine the cause of death. Police have stated they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.

“At this stage, we are not looking for anyone else as part of the investigation,” the police said.

Shay, described as a “bright, happy, and fun-loving child” by her school, Brickhouse Primary School. The school has begun offering support to students and staff following the tragedy.

Locals have laid flowers, cards, and balloons near the scene, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to support Shay’s funeral expenses.

The page, which has already raised over £3,800, states that Shay “didn’t deserve this at all” and aims to “make sure she flies high in the most beautiful way”.
