India Election Phase 2 Voting Live: Voting for 88 constituencies in the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections across 13 states and union territories has begun.

The 18th Lok Sabha elections are currently in their second phase, with voting for 88 seats taking place across 13 states and union territories. There are more than 1,200 people running for office, four of them are from outside Manipur.
Thirteen states and union territories reported a 9.3% voter turnout at nine in the morning. While Maharashtra had the lowest voter turnout—more than 7%—Chhattisgarh and Manipur registered over 15% of the total. More than 10% of voters cast ballots in these 88 seats through 9 a.m. in 2019.

Tomorrow’s elections will be for all 20 seats in Kerala, 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, 8 seats in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, 7 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 5 seats in Assam and Bihar, 3 seats in West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, and 1 seat each in Manipur, Tripura, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP members Tejasvi Surya, Hema Malini, and Arun Govil, Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor of the Congress, DK Suresh, the brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy are among the notable contenders for the second phase.

Of the 89 seats in 2019, the UPA had 24 and the NDA 56. As part of the delimitation process, six of these seats have been redrew.

The first round of the seven stages of the elections, which will include 102 seats spread across 21 states and Union territory, took place last Friday. A little over 65.5% of voters participated in the polls.
