MI had a terrible start to the innings, losing both of their openers in the first two overs despite winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Early in the fight, MI was struggling to stay afloat when the very skilled Suryakumar Yadav quickly followed suit, adding to the already existing problems.

Tilak Varma and Mohammad Nabi calmed things down amid the chaos by standing their ground and withstanding the opposition’s tempo onslaught. Nabi’s exit increased the strain just when things were starting to feel stable.

But then Nehal Wadhera came to bat for Tilak Varma, and the two put on an incredible performance of measured stroke play, limiting dangers while establishing a strong fifth-wicket partnership of 99 runs until Wadhera was removed.

Though MI’s lower-middle order set a great platform for a dramatic finish, they were unable to capitalize and ended the innings with 179 runs.

However, MI lost wickets in heap on either side of their fifth-wicket stand to post the lowest total for all teams batting first at this venue in this season.
