Vaibhav Pandya is arrested by the Economic Offence Wing for defrauding the Pandya brothers, while Hardik Pandya’s stepbrother is detained by Mumbai Police for ₹4 crore fraud.

Vaibhav Pandya, the stepbrother of cricketer Hardik Pandya, has been arrested by the Mumbai police’s Economic Offence Wing for allegedly defrauding the Pandya brothers of almost ₹4 crore in business, according to news agency ANI.

Vaibhav allegedly stole almost ₹4.3 crore from the partnership firm, which hurt Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal Pandya. This information is according to the Mumbai Police.

As per the report, the three brothers set up a polymer business in 2021. The business terms were such that Hardik and Krunal infused 40 percent capital each while Vaibhav chipped in with 20 percent.

However, Vaibhav later set up another firm dealing in the same trade without informing the Pandya brothers, violating the terms.

Hardik, Krunal currently taking part in IPL

Both cricketer brothers are currently busy with their Indian Premier League commitments; while Hardik Pandya leads the Mumbai Indians, Krunal has produced impressive performances in the 2024 season with the Lucknow Super Giants. 

Hardik had a tough last few months as he recovered from an ankle injury sustained during the 2023 World Cup. Additionally, his ascension as the captain of MI was met with significant opposition from the franchise’s fans. The all-rounder had a tough start as captain as MI faced three successive losses before registering their first win last week, defeating the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs.
