Highlights of the Mumbai Voting Percentage: According to data released by the Election Commission at around 10 p.m. on Monday, Maharashtra had a 54% voter turnout. Of Mumbai’s six Lok Sabha constituencies, Mumbai South had the lowest turnout.

Highlights of the Mumbai Lok Sabha Election 2024 Voting: As of 10 p.m. on Monday, Maharashtra has the lowest voter turnout to date—53%. The Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency was one of the seats with the lowest voter attendance, largely due to Mumbai’s “slow pace” voting procedures.

In the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai were up for election on Monday. Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central were the six seats in question. A high-profile fight took place in the region, mostly involving candidates from the INDIA alliance and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Piyush Goyal, a union minister, was running for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat against Congressman Bhushan Patil. Varsha Eknath Gaikwad of the Congress is running against Advocate Ujwal Nikam of the BJP in the Mumbai North Central constituency.

A conflict between two Shiv Sena factions was recorded in the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha Constituency. Amol Gajanan Kirtikar is associated with the Uddhav Thackeray faction, but Ravindra Wairkar represents the CM Eknath Shinde side. Mihir Kotecha of the BJP is running against Sanjaydina Patil of the Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha seat.

A brawl broke out between Shiv Sena members Ramesh Shewele and Anil Desai in Mumbai’s South Central Lok Sabha constituency (UBT). The Eknath Shinde branch of the Shiv Sena has fielded Yamini Jadhav in an attempt to thwart Arvind Sawant’s hopes of winning a third term from the Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat.

Maharashtra recorded the lowest voter turnout among eight states at 49 percent. Within Maharashtra, Kalyaan Lok Sabha constituency recorded the lowest tally at 43 percent. But when just focusing on the Mumbai region, Mumbai South recorded the lowest turnout at 44 percent.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Monday alleged that Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Sanjay Raut and Sunil Raut were found involved in “corrupt practices” outside their polling booth at Bhandup in Mumbai where voting was underway since morning.

The former MP also claimed that two activists of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) were arrested for “illegal and corrupt practices of using a fake EVM”.

However, MLA Sunil Raut, who is the brother of Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut, dismissed the allegations saying a dummy electronic voting machine (EVM) was kept outside the 100-metre radius of the polling booth for educational purpose.

Still, the police removed it under “political pressure”, he claimed.
