Lok Sabha elections 2024: On April 19, general elections will begin with the first round of voting. Voters are permitted to cast their ballots with an alternate ID card, per the announcement from the Election Commission.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Approximately 102 constituencies, dispersed across more than 20 states and Union Territories, will host the first round of general elections on April 19. To cast a ballot in their constituency, voters must bring their voter ID cards. Eleven alternate forms of identification that can be used to cast a ballot have been made available by the Election Commission for individuals who are unable to locate their voter ID cards in time.

  • Voters without their Voter ID card can use their Aadhaar Card at the poll booth during the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.

  • Health insurance smart card under the Ministry of Labour scheme is accepted.
  • The driving license serves as proof of identity for casting votes at polling booths.

  • PAN card is an acceptable alternative to Voter ID cards for voting.
  • Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR is valid for voting.

  • Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs can be used for voting.

According to the Election Commission of India, a voter can cast his or her vote only if his/her name appears on the official voter list. Once it is confirmed that a person’s name is mentioned on the voter’s list, then the person can easily cast a vote either by using a voter ID card or any other form of authorised identification.

It is always advisable to check your name on the official voter list before visiting the polling booth for the voting process.
