Bihar Deputy Chief Minister’s jab at Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Nitish Kumar, “Born with golden spoon!

“Rahul Gandhi will never be able to understand the conditions of this place because he was born with a golden spoon in his mouth,” Bihar Deputy CM Sinha said!

After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi mocked Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for rejoining the NDA on Tuesday, deputy CM Vijay Sinha came out in defence of the CM. Sinha said that Rahul Gandhi ‘was born with a golden spoon in his mouth’ and that ‘he would never understand the pain of the public.’ “Those who spend time on the ground understand the situation,” Sinha said.

Addressing reporters in Patna, Sinha said, “Rahul Gandhi will never be able to understand the social and geographical conditions of this place because he was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. Those who spend time on the ground understand the situation. Dynastic families with criminal and corrupt mindsets can never understand the pain of the public.”

Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for “taking a U-turn each time little pressure is exerted” by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Addressing the public in Bihar’s Purnea Rahul said,” Right now Baghel ji (former Chhattisgarh CM) told me a joke. The joke goes like this…Your chief minister took oath at Governor’s house. Some of his ministers also took oath. Celebrations were going on. Nitish Kumar decided to go back to his home. Suddenly while going back he realised he has left his shawl at the Governor’s house. He went back and met the Governor. Governor was shocked and said you came back so quick this time.”

So this is the condition of Bihar a little pressure is exerted, and he (Nitish Kumar) makes a U-turn,” Gandhi said. Taking a dig at the Congress leader Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary said that it is “Rahul Gandhi who is solely responsible for the current condition of Lalu Prasad Yadav.”

On Sunday, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the chief minister of Bihar for the ninth occasion at Raj Bhawan in Patna, marking another shift in alliances as he joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance once again. It was for the second time in two years that Nitish Kumar switched political affiliations, marking his fifth crossover in just over a decade.

Navy Performs Second Operation in Two Days to Rescue 19 Pakistani Sailors Kidnapped by Piracy

Ins Sumitra: According to the Indian Navy, this was the warship’s second anti-piracy operation in as many hours.

New Delhi: Indian warship INS Sumitra rescued 19 Pakistani sailors after pirates hijacked their fishing vessel off the east coast of Somalia on Monday. This was the second anti-piracy operation carried out by the warship within 36 hours, the Indian Navy said.
Eleven armed pirates climbed onto the Iranian-flagged fishing vessel FV Al Naeemi and took 19 crew members – all Pakistanis – hostage. The Navy warship intercepted the fishing vessel and coerced the pirates to release the hostages.

“Responding swiftly to the developing situation Sumitra intercepted the FV (fishing vessel) on PM 29 Jan 24 and through coercive posturing and effective deployment of her integral helo and boats compelled the safe release of the crew and the vessel,” the Navy said in a statement

The Navy personnel boarded the vessel to check on the crew.

The rescue comes a day after INS Sumitra responded to an SOS call by another Iranian-flagged fishing vessel, FV Iman, which was hijacked by Somali pirates. The vessel’s 17 Iranian crew members were rescued by the Navy.

Martyrs' Day 2024

January 30 marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi—the father of the nation—who was assassinated on this day by Nathuram Vinayak Godse in 1948, just five months and 15 days after the country gained independence from British Rule.

On the 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, here’s a look at some facts about Bapu:

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi—the legendary advocate of peace and non-violence—was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar. At the age of 13, he was married to Kasturba. He was trained in the law at the Inner Temple in London. In 1983 he moved to South Africa to represent an Indian merchant in a lawsuit. There he lived for 21 years. During his stay in South Africa, he first employed non-violent resistance in a campaign for civil rights.

In 1915, he returned to India and soon started organizing farmers and urban labourers to protest against discrimination. He initiated the Satyagraha and Ahimsa movements against the British colonial rule. His non-violent approach and his ability to win people over with love and tolerance had a profound impact on civil rights movements.

He not only dedicated his life to India’s struggle for freedom but also led nationwide campaigns against untouchability and poverty. He was also an advocate of women’s rights.

On January 30, 1948, when he was on his way to address an evening prayer meeting (around 5:17 pm) at Birla Bhavan, Delhi along with his grandnieces, Nathuram Godse – a Hindu nationalist – fired three bullets into his chest. According to records, he died instantly.

After Nitish Kumar switches sides, first action against RJD in Bihar assembly

Bihar assembly speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary, an RJD leader, is facing a no-confidence motion after several leaders from the BJP-led NDA sought his removal. This came after Nitish Kumar dumped the Mahagathbandhan and joined the NDA.

As Nitish Kumar switched sides and became the Chief Minister of the NDA alliance, several leaders from the BJP-led fold have given a no-confidence motion notice to the assembly secretary to remove Assembly Speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary, an RJD leader.

BJP leaders Nand Kishore Yadav and Tarkishore Prasad (former Deputy Chief Minister); HAM chief and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi; JD(U)’s Vinay Kumar Choudhary, Ratnesh Sada, and other MLAs from the NDA alliance gave the notice, seeking the removal of Awadh Bihari Choudhary.

Ending days of uncertainty, Nitish Kumar on Sunday severed ties with the RJD and the Congress, the constituents of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government, and took oath as the Chief Minister of the NDA alliance for the record ninth time.

The JD(U) supremo joined the Mahagathbandhan in August 2022, when he had snapped ties with the BJP, accusing it of trying to “split” his party.

With this development, the NDA in Bihar has 128 MLAs, six more than the majority mark. The Mahagathbandhan (RJD, Congress and Left parties), on the other hand, has 114 MLAs.

In the 243-seat Bihar assembly, the RJD is the single largest party with 79 MLAs, followed by BJP 78, JD(U) 45 and Congress 19.

The Left parties have 16 MLAs while the HAM and AIMIM have four and one, respectively. There is also one independent MLA in the House.

Nitish Kumar’s ghar wapsi will be multi-bagger for BJP

If Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joins hands with the BJP, it will be for his political survival. For the BJP, the JD(U) leader is an opportunity not only to boost its winnability in the 2024 Lok Sabha election but to demolish the INDIA bloc.

The Bihar Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) is as good as gone. As it gasps, stars seem to have aligned for JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s return to the BJP-led NDA.

If Nitish Kumar, left without many options, survives with his party and chief minister’s post by joining hands with the BJP. It is the BJP that will emerge as the real winner.

In fact, getting Nitish Kumar on its side will be a multibagger for the BJP.

It brings back the BJP in the game in Bihar, brightens its chances of multiplying its seats in Bihar in the 2024 general elections, and, most importantly, deals a body blow to the INDIA bloc at the national level.

Bihar watchers IndiaToday. In spoke to all agreed that Bihar was in a state of churn, and it was most likely that Nitish Kumar would rejoin the BJP.  It’s just a year-and-a half that Nitish had deserted the BJP for the RJD-Congress alliance.

SCOPE OF POLITICAL EQUATIONS IN BIHAR

Some sources have even delivered a date for the swearing-in of the new BJP-JD(U) government. They told India Today TV that on Sunday (January 28), Nitish Kumar was likely to take oath as the head of the new alliance government in Bihar. BJP veteran Sushil Modi is likely to be the new deputy minister, they said.

The position of the parties in Bihar is such that it allows a lot of room for backdoor negotiations and scheming.

Lau Yadav’s RJD is the biggest party with 79 MLAs, while the BJP has 78 MLAs. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has 45 MLAs and the Congress 19. The Left parties have 14 seats.

In the 243-member Assembly, the mahagathbandhan has 160 MLAs.

Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular), which has four MLAs, is with the BJP. With the JD(U), the BJP and the HAM (S) can easily cross the magic figure of 122.

One needs to understand the plight of Nitish Kumar. He is a chief minister with just 45 MLAs in a 243-member House. There are two bigger parties in the state than his JD(U). There’s always the risk of being outmaneouvered, and MLAs being snatched.

There were reports that the RJD was scheming to engineer a split in the JD(U) and form a government with Tejashwi Yadav as the chief minister. He was counting support from other mahagathbandhan parties.

Nitish Kumar was stuck in a political quicksand. And his outstretched hand met the BJP’s.

HOW NITISH KUMAR IS A PRIZE CATCH FOR BJP

“Most likely Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister and the BJP will have deputy CMs, it is an old formula,” one of the Bihar watchers told IndiaToday.in.

The BJP gets to be in power in yet another state before the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha election. This not only is an image booster, it also boosts its chances of winnability.

“It is a tried and tested combination for the BJP. It won 39 seats fighting with Nitish Kumar,” says Santosh Singh, senior journalist with The Indian Express. “The BJP and JD(U) have done well together in three Lok Sabha elections,” adds Patna-based Singh.

Bihar sends 40 MPs to the Lok Sabha

The BJP’s vote conversion has been very good with Nitish Kumar. The immediate gain for the BJP [in getting Nitish Kumar back] will be in the Lok Sabha election,” says Santosh Singh.

The BJP was, anyway, in a comfortable position when it came to the Hindi heartland states. Its combination of kamandal planks has blunted Mandal politics. It still can’t take chances.

The most important aspect of reeling in Nitish Kumar will be that the BJP would have demolished whatever remains of the Congress-led Opposition’s INDIA bloc.

The pre-poll alliance talks have already crumbled in Bengal and Punjab.

If Nitish Kumar leaves the Opposition grouping and joins the BJP, it will be big in terms of discrediting the INDIA grouping because it was the Bihar Chief Minister who engaged in marathon meetings to put the rainbow coalition together.

Nitish Kumar leaving will take the wind off INDIA bloc’s sails. The knives are already out for the Congress, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav blaming it for the alliance’s mess.

From getting into the Bihar government, to boosting winnability in the 2024 elections to demolishing INDIA, Nitish Kumar is that goose that will lay multiple golden eggs for the BJP.
