The central government’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blacklisted 18 OTT services, including Uncut Adda, Dreams Films, and Prime Play, for carrying ‘obscene and vulgar’ and even pornographic content, despite repeated warnings. Notably, 19 websites, 10 applications, and 57 social media accounts linked to these OTT platforms have been prohibited from public access in India.

“The content included sexual innuendos and, in some instances, prolonged segments of pornographic and sexually explicit scenes devoid of any thematic or societal relevance..” The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said.

Google Core Update for March 2024 Will Reduce 40% of “Unhelpful” Content!

Google’s extensive Google March Core Update 2024 tackles low-quality content and introduces new spam policies targeting manipulative practices.

Key Points

  • Google’s March 2024 Core Update includes algorithm changes to improve search result quality and new spam policies.
  • The update aims to reduce low-quality, unoriginal content in search results by 40%.
  • New spam policies target scaled content abuse, site reputation abuse, and expired domain abuse.

Google Core Update

Google’s technological changes and deindexation of many websites from Google Search in March 2024 are a game-changer.

Google has made major changes to its search regulations and engines in an effort to curb low-quality and spam content on the search engine.

The March 2024 Core Update is now being released. According to the company, it is more comprehensive than its previous core upgrades.

The algorithm has been adjusted in this version to decrease spam and enhance the quality of search results.

Google’s March 2024 core update: 5 things you need to know

Google Core Update

Here are all the information:

  • Google is removing all links from its index.

Imagine that when you wake up, Google has removed your website from its list of results. Many websites saw exactly that following the release of the March 2024 update.

Google stressed in its announcement on March 5th that it wanted to remove unoriginal, irrelevant, and useless content from search results.

Up to 40% of low-quality websites that offer pointless information and a bad user experience—pages built specifically to match search queries—are expected to be removed as part of this cleanup effort.

Websites that are discovered to be abusing Google’s policies or using dubious SEO techniques may not only face penalties but also be entirely erased from the index and search results.

The world of SEO went completely upside down in the days that followed the news.

Here’s a tweet from Jeff Coyle:

Google Core Update

Please be aware that totally deindexing a website is typically the result of a Google manual action; this is typically not the case when a Google core update occurs.

  • Penalties are swift

What’s notable about this update is that the penalties were hard and fast, with site owners scrambling for answers.

Let’s look at a whopping 10 websites deindexed:

Google Core Update

Try searching for your website using “site:website.com” to see if you appear in the search results to see if it was affected by the Google upgrade.

It’s significant to remember that, as Barry Schwartz said, websites impacted by the spam or core updates of March 2024 “would not get notified of a ranking decline through Google Search Console’s manual action viewer.”

“Google does not notify the site owner when a site is negatively (or positively) impacted by an algorithm update. Algorithmic updates are automated,” explains Schwartz.

  • Websites that survived previous updates are not immune

Furthermore, older websites are not exempt. There are now effects on those who were not affected by earlier algorithm changes.

Some people are supporting, stating that after years of abusing the system to remain in SERPs, it’s about time such poor websites were removed.

One instance of a “link building agency” that was expelled is this one.

In a discussion within the private Affiliate SEO Mastermind group, a member shared the unfortunate experience of a publisher whose entire network crumbled.

According to the post, the publisher’s eight affected sites, all established within the last two years, covered various niche topics. The author emphasized that the content was primarily human-written with minimal assistance from AI.

The broad range of topics these sites covered indicates a lack of deep topical knowledge – experience and expertise – which Google prioritizes when ranking websites.

  • Outdated, error-filled sites are vulnerable

Speaking of E-E-A-T, look at how Google has now added another factor when considering content to be untrustworthy and with the lowest E-E-A-T:

Content is generated by AI, it’s outdated and it’s not error-free.

Google Core Update

  • Even small AI content sites were affected

The way these micro AI content websites are being investigated is an intriguing trend. Google has improved its detection algorithms for AI-generated content, which can now result in penalties even for smaller companies in the market.

According to Craig Griffiths, a website’s frequency of content publication is the most important indicator of artificial intelligence.

Let’s get one thing straight: Google is not going after AI content. What Google wants to clean up from its search results is useless, repetitive, unoriginal content, whether it’s written by humans or AI or both.

The latest update aims to remove bad websites that do nothing for people while bringing good websites with valuable content to the surface.

This is a wake-up call for website owners who thought their legacy would keep them safe. It proves again that adaptation is key to survival in the digital world.

If you’re managing one of these older, smaller domains, don’t panic yet. Start by conducting a comprehensive site audit and fix these issues immediately.

Quality comes first

Google has always placed a strong focus on readability, depth, and innovation. Websites that were taken down and deindexed frequently had a lot of shallow or replicated content that lacked original ideas or viewpoints.

In order to address this problem head-on, E-E-A-T must be improved. The E-E-A-T guidelines demonstrate to Google—and, more significantly, to your readers—that you are a reliable source. This entails highlighting author skills on your website and mentioning reliable sources relevant to your niche.

User experience also takes center stage with the latest algorithm changes. Your site should look good and be easy and intuitive for visitors. Websites focusing solely on keyword optimization instead of holistic UX design principles will be penalized.

Paying attention to page speed, mobile-friendliness and clear calls to action will help keep users engaged longer, sending positive signals back up the SEO food chain.

Remember, by making these adjustments, you’re not just playing nice with search engines; you’re building a better online space for everyone who visits.

Timeline

The March 2024 Core Update is starting to roll out now.

Websites have a two-month window to comply with the new site reputation policy. The other changes come into effect this week.

Google’s announcement emphasizes the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of its search results.

“Search helps people with billions of questions every day, but there will always be areas where we can improve,” Tucker stated. “We’ll continue to work hard at keeping low-quality content on Search to low levels and showing more information created to help people.”

OpenAI CTO Mira Murati played an important role in Sam Altman’s firing from the company

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, faced a sudden exit from the company amid doubts over his leadership abilities. As per reports, Mira Murati had a role to play in his ouster.

Sam Altman

In Short

  • Sam Altman was fired as CEO of OpenAI three months ago.
  • Reports say that Mira Murati had a key role to play in his ouster.
  • Murati had stepped in as interim CEO after Altman’s exit.

Sam Altman’s sudden ouster from OpenAI made many headlines over three months ago. The OpenAI CEO was suddenly fired from the company and nobody seemed to know why. OpenAI had issued a statement after Altman’s ouster, saying that they no longer had faith in his ability to lead the company. Altman was resinstated as the CEO after five days after the incident. A lot had happened during this time, including company’s employees threatening to quit and join Microsoft if Altman wasn’t back. After returning as the company’s CEO, Altman fired all previous board members to form a new board.

However, questions about his exit remained. A report by The New York Times now states that an upcoming report from an external law firm might reveal more details about the decision and the chaotic five days before Altman’s return. And ahead of the report by the law firm, a new detail about the whole scenario has surfaced. As per The New York Times, OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati played a key role in Altman’s ouster. To recall, when Altman was ousted from the company, Murati had stepped in as the interim CEO as well.

The New York Times report states that Murati wrote a private memo to Altman questioning his management and shared concerns with the board. This contributed to the decision to remove Altman, as per insiders.

Around the same time, Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s co-founder and chief scientist, expressed similar worries, citing what he characterised as Altman’s history of manipulative behaviour. Both executives described a turbulent relationship with Altman. While it remains uncertain whether they provided concrete examples, they conveyed that Altman occasionally fostered a toxic work environment by excluding executives who didn’t align with his decisions.

Ms. Murati’s discussions with the board give us a peek into challenges within OpenAI’s top management, even though both leaders publicly supported Mr. Altman’s comeback to the company.

The law firm WilmerHale, conducting the investigation, is expected to conclude its investigations soon, and a new board of directors of the firm may be announced simultaneously. After Mr. Altman came back to the company in November, several directors had left the board.

Hannah Wong, OpenAI’s spokesperson, said that the company’s senior leadership team which was led by Murati during her time as interim chief executive, had requested Altman’s return. This sentiment was echoed in an open letter signed by 95 percent of OpenAI’s employees. Wong said as per New York Times, “The strong support from his team underscores that he is an effective CEO who is open to different points of view, willing to solve complex challenges, and who demonstrates care for his team. We look forward to findings from the independent review versus unsubstantiated claims.”

Altman declined to comment, and Sutskever’s lawyer refuted claims that he approached the board. Murati did not respond to requests for comment but later shared in a message to OpenAI employees that she and Altman have a strong partnership, and that she has never stopped herself from providing feedback to him directly.

Employees at OpenAI, particularly those who threatened to quit during Altman’s dismissal, are eager for the WilmerHale investigation to shed light on the events. It remains unclear if the full report or a summary will be made public.

Apple iPhone 16 series India price, specifications and everything we know so far

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 series is rumored to bring significant upgrades with powerful performance and AI integration. The new-gen iPhone, expected to launch in Fall 2024, may also carry a higher price tag in India.

Apple iPhone 16

In Short

  • The iPhone 16 series is expected to launch in Fall 2024.
  • Rumors suggest the series will bring significant upgrades and AI integration.
  • The iPhone 16 series is also likely to carry a higher price tag in India.

The iPhone 15 series is currently one of the top premium smartphones available in the market. The series was launched a few months ago with four devices in the lineup – iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, and the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. All models sport a new 48-megapixel main camera, with the Pro models boasting an additional telephoto lens with either 3x or 5x optical zoom. The Pro models also benefit from the faster A17 Bionic chip and longer battery life, while the standard iPhones use the A16 Bionic chip. Finally, all iPhone 15 models also ditched the Lightning port in favour of USB-C, enabling faster data transfer and removing the need for multiple cables. However, even though the launch of the iPhone 15 series is fresh and is offering the best of features, whispers of its successor, the iPhone 16, are already circulating online.

Expected in Fall 2024, leaks and rumours of the iPhone 16 series are suggesting that the upcoming new-gen iPhone will receive significant upgrades and powerful performance with the integration of AI. Let me detail more on everything we know so far about the upcoming iPhone lineup.

iPhone 16 might look like iPhone X with bigger display

In a recent newsletter, Bloomberg’s reporter Mark Gurman hinted at a significant design change for the iPhone 16. He revealed that the iPhone 16 might adopt vertical camera cutouts at the rear, reminiscent of what we saw in the iPhone X. In Fact he revealed that the iPhone 16 could draw design inspiration from the iPhone X’s overall look while featuring a larger display. If true, this would signify a departure from the current design language seen in the iPhone 15 series.

Additionally, according to Gurman, the “Pro” models in the iPhone 16 lineup may experience a size increase. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro could reach 6.3 inches, while the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max might scale up to 6.9 inches. Howver, despite the increased size, Apple is expected to maintain the same thickness and overall design. Furthermore, reports indicate that micro-lens technology may be integrated into the OLED panels, promising improved brightness and reduced power consumption.

New buttons in iPhone 16

Apple is expected to standardise its popular “Action Button” from the iPhone 15 Pro across all models. Additionally, the company may introduce a new pressure-sensitive “Capture Button” that resembles a physical camera shutter.

iPhone 16 Pro models to get the A18 Pro chip

Apart from big design changes, Apple is also said to increase the power of its new gen iPhones. Under the hood, the iPhone 16 is expected to feature next-generation A-series chips, developed using advanced N3E technology. These chips promise improved speed and extended battery life. Notably, the standard models may house the A17 chip, while the Pro models could be equipped with the A18 Pro, boasting an additional GPU core and enhanced Neural Engine capabilities. The difference in the chips will follow Apple’s tradition of distinguishing performance chips between its standard and Pro variants. However, there are rumours that Apple may cease this distinction with the iPhone 17 series, possibly in 2025.

iPhone 16 with bigger battery, fast charging speed

In terms of battery power, Apple reportedly plans to extend the battery life of its iPhone 16 series through improved battery technology and support for faster 40W wired charging. Additionally, the Pro models might incorporate an upgraded thermal management system utilising graphene and a metal battery case.

Reports suggest that in the iPhone 16 series, Apple will adopt new battery technology for prolonged usage, coupled with faster charging speeds. Leaked images have also hinted at a redesigned battery with a capacity of 3355mAh for the Pro model, addressing users’ power-related concerns.

Better camera system for iPhone 16 series

Apple is also said to be making significant improvements to the iPhone 16’s camera department. As mentioned earlier, Apple is planning to bid farewell to its traditional diagonal camera setup in favour of a new vertical arrangement. This shift is speculated to enable features like Spatial Video capture, specifically tailored for Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also said to feature a “Tetra Prism” 5x optical zoom lens, a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens for better low-light photography, and even a unique 48-megapixel wide-angle camera with a hybrid lens. These enhancements could significantly improve zoom capabilities, promising users more power to their photography.

AI Integration and Software Enhancements

To keep up with competitors, Apple is also reportedly planning to bring significant AI capabilities to the iPhone 16 lineup. Speculation suggests that Apple’s addition of AI capabilities will come with the new iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 lineup. The new AI features will include smarter Siri-Messages integration and personalised Apple Music playlists.

iPhone 16 series might costs more than 15 series

While the iPhone 16 is expected to boast new features and significant upgrades, it’s also rumoured to carry a higher price tag. In India specifically, the launch price of the iPhone 16 is said to be steeper than its predecessors, the iPhone 13, 14, and 15, which interestingly maintained a consistent price point.

Industry analysts predict that the iPhone 16 will see a slight price bump compared to previous models. Considering the rumoured enhancements and advancements, we can expect a price increase of $100. For Indian consumers, this could translate to a roughly Rs 10,000 increase compared to the preceding models, aligning with Apple’s global pricing strategy.

Notably, all this information is based on rumors, and the final specifications and pricing will be revealed by Apple only during the launch.
