With iOS 18, Apple May Give Native Apps a Significant Makeover, But AI Will Take Center Stage: Report.

Apple

It is said that Apple iOS 18 has ambitious ambitions for the iPhone this year. The tech giant intends to modify certain native apps for iOS, even though artificial intelligence (AI) plays a major role in it. The Cupertino-based software behemoth reportedly intends to redesign at least four of its apps, adding new features and altering their designs. It is rumored that Apple intends to modify iOS 18’s interface, particularly the Home Screen. Notably, there are rumors that the company will also release an iPadOS calculator app.

In advance of its June 10 preview at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), Apple is reportedly planning to make significant improvements to iOS 18, according to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg via his Power On newsletter. One of the company’s main strategies to increase iPhone sales is still AI.

Despite multiple published papers by Apple researchers, it is being said that the company does not intend to introduce its own chatbot this year. Instead, it has again entered discussions with OpenAI, likely to incorporate its GPT models for some of the AI features.

Besides OpenAI, the iPhone maker is also said to be in talks with Google for Gemini AI as well as Baidu for Ernie AI (China only). While the features Apple is planning to build are not known, Gurman suggests the company wants to integrate AI into its existing apps and offer features such as text generator, article summarising in Safari, and missed notification recap. As per the report, these features could be part of Apple’s Ajax AI model, however, the tech giant may also leverage OpenAI, Google, and Baidu’s AI models.

Mail, Notes, Photos, and Fitness are the four native apps that the company is reportedly redesigning in addition to the AI technologies that will revolutionize the offerings of Apple iOS 18. Although specifics on what Apple might modify are unknown, new features and a redesign are anticipated. Moreover, the iPhone manufacturer might include a new feature that lets users pin an app anywhere on the Home Screen instead of just on the pre-existing grids.

Note that Apple’s plans for the upcoming iPhone operating system will only be disclosed at WWDC 2024 and that the features and updates of iOS 18 have not been verified by any official sources.

In conclusion

With iOS 18 quickly approaching, excitement is growing for a big redesign of native apps inside the Apple ecosystem. But the important role AI is about to play is what makes this upgrade unique. With AI taking center stage, customers can expect a more personalized, intuitive, and efficient experience across their devices. From better voice assistants to smarter predictive capabilities, iOS 18 aims to not only polish the way we interact with our devices but also to further the integration of AI into our daily lives. The combination of state-of-the-art technology and a seamless user experience signals the beginning of an exciting new age for iOS users worldwide, as Apple continues to push the frontiers of innovation.
