During a speech to the public in Visakhapatnam, Rajnath Singh angrily denounced the Congress for what he saw as attempts to sow religious division within the armed forces and other institutions.
The Sachar Committee Report from 2006, published during the Congress administration and suggesting a head count of Muslim military personnel, was reminiscent of Singh’s remarks.
He called the move a dangerous attempt to instill religious beliefs in the armed forces and denounced it as unprecedented in India’s post-independence history.
In its 2006 report, the Sachar Committee recommended that the number of Muslims serving in the armed forces during the Congress regime be counted. Singh claims that in the history of independent India, there has never been an attempt to divide the forces in the name of religion.
“We strongly opposed this action.” On the other hand, I think this accurately portrays Congress,” he went on.
He charged that Congress was hiding a larger plot to sow discord among government agencies and the workforce.
The grand old party once again alluded to religious minorities being given preference in government employment on the current platform, which, if put into effect, might even apply to positions in the armed forces.
