Amit Shah also commended Prime Minister Modi for laying the cornerstone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Jodhpur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Monday during an election rally in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, that Congress icon and former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru had made a mistake by enforcing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He praised the actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who ended the contentious law and raised the Indian flag in Kashmir.
“Every promise we have made since the BJP’s founding has been met by PM Modi. Article 370 was a mistake that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made in Kashmir. On August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Modi lifted the Indian flag in Kashmir and abolished Article 370,” he declared.
PM Modi received appreciation from Amit Shah as well for laying the cornerstone for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He claimed that the Ram Temple issue has been ignored by the Congress for many years.
“For 70 years, the Congress party has diverted from the issue of the Ram Temple at ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’ but PM Modi has not only laid the foundation stone but also did the ‘Pran Pratistha’ on January 22,” he stated.
The day Amit Shah brought up Nehru, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar accused the former prime minister of viewing the island of Katchatheevu as a “nuisance.”
“In May 1961, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the prime minister at the time, wrote, ‘I would not hesitate to relinquish our claim to this small island as I place no significance on it.'” I dislike issues like this being brought up again in parliament and left unresolved. Thus, Pandit Nehru considered this small island to be an annoyance and of no significance. He believed that it is best to give it away as quickly as possible.
Amit Shah has already held Nehru accountable for the issues facing Jammu and Kashmir.
Amit Shah stated in the Lok Sabha last year that Nehru had made two significant mistakes in the former state: going to the UN to resolve the conflict with Pakistan and announcing a ceasefire during the India-Pakistan war of 1948 without gaining all of Kashmir.
“I agree with the term used here: Nehruvian error. Kashmir had to suffer as a result of the mistake made under Nehru’s rule. With all due respect, I would like to point out the two mistakes made by Jawaharlal Nehru that resulted in years of suffering for Kashmir. The first is to proclaim a truce, which was enforced when our army was victorious. After three days, PoK would have become a part of India if there had been a ceasefire. Shah had stated, “Today…The second is to take our internal issue to the UN.”
Karnataka will host Amit Shah today. He will speak at Bengaluru’s Palace Ground during the Sakti Kendra Pramukh Sammelan.
