According to reports, Kiara Advani is confirmed to represent India in Cannes. The actress is scheduled to attend the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala Dinner, which is being presented by Vanity Fair, as reported by Bombay Times. Kiara is scheduled to take part in a panel at the Red Sea International Film Festival on May 18, 2024.

Making history, Payal Kapadia is the first Indian female director to have her picture screened within the coveted Palme d’Or section of the film festival. The 77th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The last day of the tournament is May 25, 2024. The event will open from 11.30 am to 11.30 pm IST on May 13–14 and from 12.30 pm to 9.30 pm IST on May 15–25, according to the official website. Greta Gerwig is the president of the Feature Film Jury this year. She is a four time Oscar nominee. As America’s first female director, she will create history in this regard.

“As a film enthusiast, I enjoy watching, creating, and discussing films. For a cinema enthusiast like me, Cannes has always represented the height of the medium’s potential. My favorite spot to be is in a dark, crowded theater with strangers, watching a brand-new movie,” Gerwig stated in a statement. Actors Pierfrancesco Favino, Eva Green, and Omar Sy; filmmakers Juan Antonio Bayona, Kore-eda Hirokazu, and Nadine Labaki; novelist and photographer Ebru, in addition to Greta, were also present.

Ceylan is going to be the Jury for Feature Films. Their selection for the Palme d’Or will be revealed on May 24 at the Closing Ceremony.
Actress Vicky Krieps, filmmakers Maïmouna Doucouré and Asmae El Moudir, critic, writer, and director Todd McCarthy, and Canadian actor and filmmaker Xavier Dolan head the Un Certain Regard Jury.
