Saudi King Salman to Get Lung Inflammation Treatment at Palace.

According to the state-run Saudi Press Agency, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia is undergoing antibiotic treatment at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah due to lung inflammation.

Who is Saudi Arabia’s King Salman?

King Salman held positions as Defence Minister and Governor of the central Riyadh region before to ascending to the throne of Saudi Arabia. He has been 88 years old and king or queen since 2015.

Mohammed bin Salman, his son, is widely regarded as the de facto ruler of the nation and was named crown prince in 2017.

The Kingdom at the time denied rumours that the king was getting ready to abdicate and give way to his son.

In 2020, King Salman had surgery to remove his gallbladder.

In March 2022, he was hospitalized to change the battery of his pacemaker.

Since stepping into the limelight, the crown prince has implemented social and economic reforms in an apparent push to make Saudi Arabia less reliant on oil in the future.

Saudi Arabia has undertaken major construction projects, including building the desert city of Neomunder Mohammed bin Salman, with the goal of increasing tourism to the kingdom.

The prince has also overseen a crackdown on dissent.

According to the state-run Saudi Press Agency, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia is undergoing antibiotic treatment at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah due to lung inflammation.

The 88-year-old monarch suffered joint pain and a high fever, the agency said early on Sunday. At the Royal Clinics at Al Salam Palace, he was examined by medical professionals.

He was admitted to the hospital in April and then left after receiving a standard examination, according to SPA at the time.

Since 2015, King Salman has been in charge of the biggest oil exporter in the world. Most of Saudi Arabia’s daily operations are managed by his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman III.

This week, the crown prince was supposed to make his uncommon journey outside of the Middle East—to Japan. The Japanese government stated that MBS, as he is known, was scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the May 20–23 visit.

In a thrilling encounter, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerged victorious over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs, securing their place in the playoffs of IPL 2024. Rachin Ravindra’s explosive 61 off 37 balls and Faf du Plessis’s solid 54 off 39 balls laid a strong foundation for RCB. On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur and Yash Dayal delivered crucial spells, each taking two wickets, helping RCB to restrict CSK effectively.

Despite a valiant effort, CSK couldn’t chase down the target, leading to their elimination from the tournament. This win not only bolsters RCB’s confidence as they head into the playoffs but also marks a disappointing end to CSK’s campaign. RCB’s all-round performance highlights their potential as strong contenders for the title this season.

Swati Maliwal Case: ‘Slapped 7-8 Times, Kicked in Chest, Stomach’, FIR Details Against Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar.

Swati Maliwal detailed a harrowing account, accusing Mr Kumar of slapping her 7-8 times on the face and hitting her chest, stomach, and sensitive parts.

Slapped, dragged, and kicked in the chest – AAP leader Swati Maliwal’s complaint against Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, raises serious charges of assault. Ms. Maliwal claims that on Monday morning, she was assaulted by Mr. Kumar in the drawing room of the Chief Minister’s official residence, with Mr. Kejriwal present in the house at the time.

In the FIR filed last night, Ms Maliwal said she arrived at Arvind Kejriwal’s home at 6, Flag Staff Road, Civil Lines, and attempted to contact the chief minister’s aide but received no response. She said she informed the staff of her presence and was asked to wait in the drawing room.

She alleged that while she was waiting, Bibhav Kumar burst into the room and started verbally abusing her. Ms Maliwal gave harrowing details, accusing Mr Kumar of slapping her seven times on the face and hitting her chest, stomach, and sensitive parts. “Bibhav came and started abusing and kept slapping without provocation,” Ms Maliwal claimed in her complaint. “I made noise and said ‘Let me go’, but he kept beating me continuously and abusing me in Hindi. He threatened, ‘We will see, we will deal with it’. I informed him that I was menstruating and in considerable pain, begging him to leave me alone.”

“I felt absolutely shocked and was screaming for help over and over again. In order to protect myself, I pushed him away with my legs. At that time, he pounced on me, brutally dragged and deliberately pulled my shirt up,” the FIR reads. “Bibhav Kumar did not relent and attacked me by kicking me in my chest, stomach and pelvis area with his legs.”

Ms Maliwal added in her complaint that she managed to run out of the house and call the police.

“I was in a terrible state of shock at this attack. I was deeply traumatised and called the 112 number and reported the incident,” Mr Maliwal stated in the FIR.

When the security personnel arrived, instead of assisting Ms Maliwal, they allegedly followed Mr Kumar’s instruction to throw her out. Despite her condition, she was forced to leave and wait outside the Chief Minister’s residence until the police arrived.

“Bibhav came back with the security personnel working at the main gate. I kept telling them that I was brutally beaten up and they should look at my condition and wait until the police comes but they asked me to leave the premises,” Ms Maliwal’s statement reads.

Late last night, Delhi Police escorted Ms Maliwal to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for a medical checkup. When the police reached Mr Kumar’s residence in the Chandrawal Nagar area of the national capital, he was missing. Teams from the Crime Branch and Special Cell are looking for Mr Kumar, aiming to bring him into custody.

The Delhi Police registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, insulting modesty, and assault. The FIR was filed after Ms Maliwal’s statement was recorded by a police team led by Additional Commissioner PS Kushwaha.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has stepped into the controversy, summoning Mr Kumar for a hearing today.

Following the police visit, Ms Maliwal posted on social media about the distressing experience and appealed against politicising the issue.

“What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken. The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination said that I was doing it on the instructions of a party. May God keep them happy too. An important election is underway in the country. Swati Maliwal is not important, the issues of the country are important. There is a special request to the BJP to not do politics on this incident,” Ms Maliwal posted last night.

Mamata Banerjee, “PART OF INDIA” “You should not trust,” Adhir Ranjan says.

The incident has triggered a political storm. The BJP has heavily criticized Mr Kejriwal for his silence, with its spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia even going as far as labeling Mr. Kejriwal the “main criminal” due to his apparent inaction during the assault.

Mr Kejriwal deflected questions regarding the incident during a press conference in Lucknow yesterday, where he appeared alongside Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Mr Singh, addressing the press, acknowledged Mr Kumar’s misconduct and deflected criticism towards the BJP, demanding accountability for various women’s issues under their governance.

The Congress, allied with AAP in the opposition INDIA bloc for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, echoed similar calls.

Kapil Sibal calls Amit Shah’s Bail Statement to Kejriwal “Objectionable.”

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Thursday hit out at Home Minister Amit Shah over his reported “special treatment” remarks on the interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying it was an “objectionable statement” that questioned the intention of the Supreme Court judges.

Sibal’s remarks came after Shah while referring to the interim bail granted by the Supreme Court to Kejriwal, reportedly said many in the country believed he was given special treatment.

Also Read Mamata Banerjee, “PART OF INDIA” “You should not trust,” Adhir Ranjan says.

The Supreme Court on Thursday steered clear of the political talk about it has made an exception for Kejriwal in granting him interim bail for campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls but said: “critical analysis of the judgment is welcome”.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Sibal said, “Shah has made an objectionable statement and questioned the intention of the Supreme Court judges.”
Shah has stated very cleverly that many people are saying the Supreme Court’s decision to grant interim bail to Kejriwal in the excise policy case is akin to him getting special treatment, he added.

“He (Shah) has said ‘people are saying’. If people are saying and you don’t believe in it, then why say it? If people say and you believe it, then only you have made the statement,” said Sibal, who is also a senior advocate.

Sibal said it is important to spell out the laws in light of the statement.

“If someone is convicted but gets a stay from the court, he or she can file a nomination and get elected. If there is a charge sheet against anyone, a person can campaign and also file a nomination, like Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is doing,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.

“One who just has allegations against him cannot campaign, what kind of a statement is this?” Sibal said, hitting out at Shah.

He probably does not know the law, otherwise he would not have made the statement, Sibal said.

Slamming Shah, Sibal said, “He (Shah) says ‘if we win 400 seats, we will take back PoK’. What if you don’t get that many seats, won’t you take back PoK? We want you to take it back. Firstly, you should take back those 4,000 kilometers that China has taken away…”
Asked about the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence, Sibal said, “Why is he (Shah) worried about this (Maliwal assault case)? It’s an internal matter of AAP. You think about Prajwal (Revanna), why don’t you give statements on that? That is the internal matter of JD(S), you are silent there and the prime minister is also silent.

Mamata Banerjee, “PART OF INDIA” “You should not trust,” Adhir Ranjan says.

On Wednesday Mamata Banerjee – who had seemed to put her membership of the INDIA bloc on hold – said she would provide “outside support” in the event the group won the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Congress’ Bengal boss, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, on Thursday, weighed in on the ‘is she, isn’t she’ll debate over Mamata Banerjee’s membership of the INDIA bloc, shortly before the Chief Minister said she remains a key part of the opposition grouping, which she called her “brainchild”.

Also Read “Desh mein koi maai ka laal,” Attacks the INDIA Party for Spreading False Information Regarding CAA.

On Ms Banerjee’s “… will provide outside support (if the group wins the election)” comment Wednesday, Mr Chowdhury declared, “I don’t trust her… she left the alliance. She can also go towards the BJP.”

“What she will do from outside (the alliance) or inside… I don’t know. That you have to ask her,” the Congress leader told reporters, “But I don’t trust her. She left the alliance… she could even run to BJP.”

Mr. Chowdhury – there is little love lost between him and Ms. Banerjee, a fact underlined by the latter yesterday explicitly stating “… INDIA alliance doesn’t count Bengal Congress…” – also said, “Whatever complaints she has (about the bloc) she should have raised earlier when it was created.”

DHFL Fraud: CBI Arrests Dheeraj Wadhawan in a Case Involving a Rs 34,000 Crore Bank Loan Scam.

Mr Chowdhury further pointed out the apparent U-turn came after polling for nearly 70 per cent of all Lok Sabha seats, with the opposition bloc claiming big advances in its bid to oust the ruling BJP.

“They (referring to the BJP) were talking about destroying Congress and that Congress would not get 40 seats… but now (what) she is saying means Congress and INDIA are coming to power,” he said, appearing to suggest Ms Banerjee’s about-face followed a realisation the BJP will likely be defeated.

A day earlier Ms Banerjee – who had put her membership of the bloc on hold after public spats over seat-sharing deals – declared she would provide “outside support” in the event of an election win.

“We will give leadership to INDIA and help… from outside. We will form a Mamata Banerjee government so our Bengal mothers and sisters… and those who work in 100-days job scheme do not face problems,” she said.

This afternoon, at a poll rally in Tamluk, Ms Banerjee underlined her position, saying, “I am very much part of INDIA… it was my brainchild. We are together at national level and will continue to be together.”

Ms Banerjee did, though, make it clear – yesterday and today – that she does not see the Congress’ state unit and the CPM, as allies. The Congress and the CPM, which is also part of the INDIA bloc, are allied in Bengal (but rivals in Kerala), but have fielded candidates against the Trinamool.

The Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has frequently attacked the Mr Chowdhury-led Congress unit, and the CPM, as having unofficially joined the BJP. “They are not with us… they are with the BJP here.”

Earlier this year, as the Congress was scrambling to confirm seat-share deals with INDIA allies ahead of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Ms Banerjee – seen as one of the group’s more cantankerous members – refused to play ball, insisting she would not give up more seats to that party than necessary.

She pointed to the Congress’ abysmal record in the 2019 election – in which it won just two of 42 seats – and insisted her party had the best chance to defeat the BJP in the state.

Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats, of which the Trinamool won 22 last time and the BJP got 18, and Ms Banerjee reasoned the Congress simply did not have the clout to stop the saffron party in the state.

After a tension-filled few weeks in January and February, Ms Banerjee walked away from the bloc.

JEE Advanced Conducting IITs

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is conducted by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), namely IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati, on a round-robin basis. The IITs are arranged in a rational order to conduct the exam, and the rotation is usually from the top to the bottom of the list and then starting again at the top of the list and so on. The exam is guided by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). This rotation system is essentially a way to ensure fair distribution of exam conduction responsibility among the seven zonal IITs.
