RBI updates its Financial Policy: real GDP growth is expected to reach 7% in FY25, while the policy repo rate remains at 6.5%!

For the seventh time in a row, the RBI has maintained the repo rate at 6.5%; 4.5% is predicted for CPI inflation in FY25.

On April 5, Governor Shaktikanta Das announced the decision of the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee, stating that policy repo rates will remain at 6.5%.

Furthermore, the RBI maintained its forecast of 7% GDP growth for the fiscal year 2024–2025, with 6.9% and 7% growth anticipated in the quarters of June and September, respectively. Growth is expected to be at least 7% in the third and fourth quarters. This is less than the 7.6% growth that is anticipated for FY24.

RBI updates

Domestic economic activity remains resilient: RBI

The MPC observed that robust investment demand and positive corporate and consumer attitudes support the resilience of domestic economic activity. Although headline inflation has dropped from its peak in December, pressures from food prices have been disrupting the ongoing disinflation process, making it more difficult for inflation to eventually decline to the target level. The forecast is uncertain due to unpredictable supply-side shocks from unfavorable climate events and their effects on agricultural output, as well as geopolitical tensions and their effects on trade and commodities markets, according to Mr. Das.

On April 5, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) determined to maintain the policy repo rate at 6.50% under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF). The rates have been put on hold for the seventh time.

The MPC also decided to keep its attention on removing accommodation to boost growth while ensuring that inflation gradually approaches the objective.

RBI updates

Food price uncertainties continue to weigh on inflation outlook: RBI

In the future, inflation the future would be affected by the uncertainty surrounding food prices. However, the RBI stated that a record amount of rabi wheat will be produced in 2023–2024, which will assist in controlling grain prices when it announced the Monetary Policy’s decision to keep the CPI inflation rate at its current level.

Positive early signs of a typical monsoon also portend positively for the kharif season. The growing frequency of climate shocks, however, continues to be a significant upward risk to food prices.

Concerns are also raised by low reservoir levels, particularly in the southern States, and the prediction of above-average temperatures in April and June. Close observation is required of the pricing of important vegetables and the tight supply and demand situations for some pulses.

With the recent decrease in LPG prices, fuel price deflation is probably going to get worse shortly. Firms are experiencing cost-push pressures that are biased upward after a period of consistent moderation. It is important to keep a careful eye on the current strengthening of crude oil prices internationally.

The forecast for inflation is further threatened by geopolitical unrest and financial market volatility, the RBI noted.

Headwinds from geopolitical tensions pose risk: RBI

In a press release announcing the Monetary Policy Committee’s decision, the RBI stated that the outlook for fixed investment is still positive due to signs of an upturn in the private capex cycle, solid government capital expenditure, healthy corporate and bank balance sheets, and business optimism.

However, risks to the projection include headwinds from increased Red Sea disruptions, volatility in global financial markets, geoeconomic fragmentation, geopolitical tensions, and extreme weather events.

Services activity likely to grow to above pre-pandemic trend: RBI

A typical southwest monsoon is predicted for the future, which should aid in agricultural production. The RBI stated that it will maintain the 7% GDP growth forecast for FY25 as part of its bi-monthly Monetary Policy decision, citing the industry’s predicted continuation of strong profitability.

It is expected that services activity will increase above the pre-pandemic trend. Growth in private consumption should accelerate as rural activity continues to improve and urban demand remains stable. The Reserve Bank said in a news statement that rising discretionary expenditure anticipated by urban households, as indicated by the consumer survey, and rising income levels bode well for the expansion of private consumption.

Domestic economic activity continues to expand at an accelerated pace: Das

India’s Forex reserves reach all-time high

As of March 29, 2024, India’s foreign exchange reserves were at an all-time high of $645.6 billion, according to Governor Das.

He referenced the most recent statistics on several external risk indicators, suggesting that India’s external economy has become more resilient.

He continued, “We are still confident that we will be able to easily meet our external financing requirements.”

Headline inflation has eased to 5.1% in Jan and Feb: Das

Growth has continued to sustain its momentum, surpassing all projections. Headline inflation has eased to 5.1% during both January and February, and this has come down to 5.1% in these two months from the earlier peak of 5.7% in December, the RBI Governor said.

Looking ahead, robust growth prospects provide the policy space to remain focused on inflation and ensure its descent to the target of 4%, he adds.

CPI inflation for FY25 projected at 4.5%

In delivering the Monetary Policy decision, Governor Das stated that 4.5% CPI inflation is anticipated for FY25. The Committee has kept the February numbers the same.

In February, it was predicted that CPI inflation would be 5.4 percent in 2023–2024 and 5.0 percent in Q4 of that year.

Pressures on food prices increased in February, and the RBI Governor said the MPC is still on the lookout for inflation risks.

He went on to say that persistently high food prices could undermine the foundation of inflationary expectations.

The Standing Deposit Facility rate remains at 6.25%: Das

The Standing Deposit Facility rate remains at 6.25% and the Marginal Standing Facility rate and Bank Rate remain at 6.75%, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Monetary Policy decisions.

Real GDP growth for FY25 projected at 7%

The Monetary Policy Committee has projected the real GDP growth for FY25 at 7%.

This is also consistent with its announcement made previously in February.

Monetary policy must remain actively disinflationary at this stage: Das

In his remarks announcing the Monetary Policy Committee’s decision, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das stated that strong growth gives room for monetary policy to continue focusing on bringing inflation down to its 4% target.

According to Mr. Das, monetary policy must continue to be actively disinflationary at this point.

The Monetary Policy Committee decides to keep the policy rate unchanged at 6.5%

The Monetary Policy Committee has decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 6.5%.

The central banking authority of India has kept the repo rate unchanged for the last six consecutive MPC meetings.

The decision was made with a majority of 5:1

“This is IPL. Players you’ve not seen before will come and win games”

This statement from Shubman Gill, who finds himself on the losing side, sums up why this tournament has been so important for Indian cricket. Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma – the stars of a memorable Punjab Kings victory.

After two disappointing losses, Punjab Kings has found a way to break the rut. A nice three-wicket win with a lot of character from its batters.

APRIL 4, 2024 23:18

PBKS 200/7 in 19.5 Overs

Darshan Nalkande is given the ball. How about that for faith? HE STRIKES FIRST BALL! OH MY WORD, THE DRAMA! He begins with a slower one and Ashutosh skips the ball. It’s a simple catch for Rashid Khan at long-on. Nalkande bowls short with the ball going over the batter Harpreet Brar’s head. Wide given. Shubman has a hand on his bowler’s shoulder. Six needed off five now. The fine leg comes into the circle. Mid-on drops back. Nalkande bowls similarly and a wide is given. This time, Wriddhiman Saha asks for it to be reviewed. Good sense prevails as the wide is recalled. Harpreet then runs a single. The equation is down to five runs off three balls and Shashank Singh is on strike. Luck favours the brave and Shashank’s attempt to flick the ball produces a big outside edge which runs down short third for four. Scores level. Shubman brings the fielders in to deny the single. Nalkande goes for the yorker, which Shashank manages to dispatch. It runs behind him but Saha stops the ball. However, the umpire gives the bye. Gujarat reviews for lbw, but the batter is in the clear. Punjab Kings beat Gujarat Titans by three wickets. What a match.

APRIL 4, 2024 23:04

PBKS 193/6 in 19 Overs

Mohit Sharma returns. Begins with a low full toss which is thumped for a single. Ashutosh Sharma then uses Mohit’s drop in pace to slog the ball over midwicket for SIX. Mohit sticks to the slower ball and Ashutosh tries again but doesn’t get the distance. Sai Sudarshan sends it back to safety. Ashutosh has been stepping well behind in the crease to allow himself some room. The result – the equation is down to seven runs needed off the last six balls. 18 runs were conceded in this over. It will all presumably come down to Umesh Yadav. This is now Punjab’s game to lose.

APRIL 4, 2024 22:58

PBKS 175/6 in 18 Overs

Omarzai is given the ball. Ashutosh gets going with back-to-back fours – first over square leg and the next a ramp shot over the keeper’s head. Short balls from Omarzai are making it easy for the Punjab batters. 33 needed off 16. Shashank Singh brings up his fifty. A brave effort from the player, almost playing in a different sphere altogether. Maiden IPL fifty for the Punjab batter. 16 runs come off this over from Omarzai. Incredibly expensive from the Afghan. Will this cost GT?

APRIL 4, 2024 22:54

PBKS 159/6 in 17 overs

Mohit returns for his third over. Punjab needs 47 of 24. He begins with a quicker ball rising to the batter. It is negotiated for a single by Ashutosh Sharma. Ashutosh then sends the ball high and Umesh Yadav spills a chance by the ropes, as he loses his balance. He tries to find the big shot yet again, but the ball lands safely. No harm, no foul. Six runs come off Mohit’s over.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:44

PBKS 153/6 in 16 overs

Rashid is to bowl out. Jitesh Sharma now starts to go bonkers. Two back-to-back sixes. one over long off and one over midwicket. He then sends in a full toss and Jitesh does not middle that properly, holing out to Nalkande at deep midwicket. The keeper-batter is distraught. If he could stay, it would mean security for Punjab’s hopes in this game. Everything rests on Shashank’s shoulders now.

The timeout has been taken now. Punjab needs 50 runs in 27 balls.

Punjab makes its impact substitute. Ashutosh Sharma comes in for Arshdeep Singh. This is the same man who broke Yuvraj Singh’s record for fastest T20 fifty last year. Punjab will want him to channel that energy today.

He gets off the mark with a single. Rashid bowls out.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:42

PBKS 138/5 in 15 overs

Mohit comes in for his second over. 69 needed off 36 balls for Punjab. Jitesh is on strike. Mohit begins with a ball flying over the batter’s head. Jitesh manages a single through midwicket, bringing Shashank back on strike. Mohit goes slow to the in-form batter. But Shashank will NOT be denied as he sends the ball flying over mid-off for four. Nervous faces in the Punjab dugout cannot be celebrated. Not just yet. Shashank is now making this look effortless as he smacks the ball to midwicket. Sai Sudarshan does well to field this and save a few runs for his side. Oh, Shashank almost cuts back into his stumps. That inside edge has Mohit tempted, but he is not rewarded.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:36

PBKS 131/5 in 14 overs

Rashid returns for his third over. Punjab needs 81 runs in 42 balls.

Rashid employs his googly and a tossed-up offering to draw something from the batters. Omarzai throws himself by the ropes to save two runs for his side. The GT fielding has been top notch but what can you do if the ball goes beyond the fence? That’s what Shashank Singh is doing as he smacks Rashid for SIX, this one slogged over midwicket.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:29

PBKS 119/5 in 13 overs – Mohit Sharma removes Raza

Mohit Sharma strikes off the second ball of his over. A back-of-the-hand delivery foxes the allrounder and he edges the ball to the keeper. He goes for a 16-ball 15. Jitesh is the new batter and is greeted with a bouncer. Some nervy running for this pair follows as they try and find a rhythm to keep Punjab in the hunt. Shashank wants to almost do it singlehandedly, with a ramp shot over the keeper for four.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:27

PBKS 110/4 in 12 Overs

Noor Ahmad returns. After a miserly start, Shashank belts Noor through long on for four. He is trying to score in the v before and behind him and has raced away to 25 in just nine balls. 10 runs come off the over.

Punjab Kings needs 90 runs in 48 balls.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:24

PBKS 100/4 in 11 overs – Punjab needs 117 runs off 60 balls

Umesh Yadav returns for his third. Sikander Raza attempted a ramp shot and Noor Ahmad almost took a single-handed catch there. But it slips away and runs away for two. Shashank Singh then cuts the ball through the gap past slip for four. Umesh botches his line and Shashank pulls the ball for six over long off. Nice little over this is turning out to be for Punjab Kings. Shashank cuts once more, with the ball running away for four through third man. 17 runs come off the over. Punjab brings up its team 100.

APRIL 04, 2024 22:19

PBKS 83/4 in (10 Overs)

Noor to Raza. A double and a dot ball to start the over. Raza sweeps it through square leg but finds a fielder, just a single. Noor finds the pads of Shashank Singh, umpire says not-out but Gill takes a review!

Rashid Khan to Bairstow. A quick double to start the over. Another quick single as Punjab chases the big target. Prabhsimran steps away from the wicket and hits it behind square for the boundary. Another sweep but just a dot ball to finish the over.

APRIL 04, 2024 21:47

Bairstow takes a single and keeps the strike for the next over.

APRIL 04, 2024 21:42

PBKS 27/1 in 3 Overs

Omarzai to Bairstow. A full ball that is driven through the covers by the Brit, FOUR runs! A single and a dot follows as Prabhsimran is on strike. The batter steps out and flick it over square leg but just one comes off of it. A quick single to end the over as Prabhsimran retains the strike.

APRIL 04, 2024 21:35

Shubman Gill scores

GT vs PBKS

Shubman Gill (c) of Gujarat Titans during match 17 of the Indian Premier League season 17 (IPL 2024) between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on the 4th April 2024.

Shubman Gill leads from the front, carrying his bat through the innings to take GT to 199. Punjab Kings has a massive task on hand to get 200 to win this game.

APRIL 04, 2024 21:14

GT 199/4 in 20 overs – PBKS needs 200 to win

Arshdeep to bowl the final over and he starts with a full toss. It is saved by Brar in the deep. Two runs for GT. Gill then runs a single, with Bairstow doing the needful at long-on. Another full toss, this time to Tewatia, is sent straight to the square fielder. Gill is eyeing a century but Arshdeep allows just the single and it gets the GT captain off strike. Arshdeep is a smart cookie, he is bowling to his field and not allowing the duo to try anything audacious just yet. I’ve spoken too soon. Tewatia dispatches Arshdeep through the on side for four. One bounce and past the rope. He tries to replicate the shot and finds the ropes yet again, this time smacking a full toss while going on one knee. 199 is what Gujarat will finish with, all thanks to Tewatia’s smarts. Makes you wonder, why Vijay Shankar came ahead of him.

APRIL 04, 2024 21:05

GT 186/4 in 19 Overs

Harshal will bowl out. Stays low and slow and Gill sweeps for a single. Rahul Tewatia is itching to score and he does, and nonchalantly dispatches a low full toss with a flick over the fence. Where is the power coming from? So sublime! Looks like Harshal was trying a yorker but it didn’t quite come through. Harshal then gets his line all awry. No ball given. Tewatia then sends the ball to the ropes but a fielder has intercepted it. But it is being reviewed. Did his knee touch the cushion? Nope. Runs saved. Another wide from Harshal. Tewatia then finds the boundary. Walks across a bit to the six-stump line and flicks it to the ropes. How he has found and placed the ball in this gap is incredible! Harshal goes a bit high this time. Tewatia reviews for a wide and is given the extra. Sixteen already from this over, making it the most expensive over of the innings. Harshal responds with a wide yorker which makes Tewatia lose balance, but no harm is done with a single coming off it. OH and DRAMA off the last ball. HAS GILL BEEN RUN OUT? It looked like Gill was in some trouble here as he wanted to run the third. Reviews show he is safe.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:59

GT 164/4 in 18 Overs – Rabada removes Vijay Shankar

Rabada to bowl out and what better way to welcome the South African than this monstrous six! Clobbered over midwicket! Right in the slot too from Rabada. He’s not done. He goes straight this time, with a flat bat, for four. Disdain! Gill is lighting up the night sky here in Ahmedabad. He goes for the same shot but hasn’t timed it this time and it is intercepted. Vijay Shankar goes boundary-hitting too but holes out to Harpreet Brar at long off. Might not be the worst thing for GT now, Vijay Shankar was not middling it all too well. This will allow a pinch hitter time to do their thing. In walks Rahul Tewatia. A couple of singles are run. 13 runs come off this over. Shubman retains strike.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:48

GT 153/3 in 17 Overs

Shubman gets physio support for a stiff lower back

Shubman Gill is on the floor, getting some attention from the physio for his lower back. One can imagine how draining it must be to bat in the heat in Ahmedabad. But GT needs its captain to stay put and see the side through to a good total. Harshal to bowl his third, Vijay Shankar is on strike. He needs to take responsibility here and tries to pull the ball, but it goes off his gloves. Just the single for him and it brings Gill back on strike. Harshal darts in with a yorker. Nicely done, as Gill canters for just a single. Shankar manages a single yet again. Gill then sends the ball over the fence, managing to flatten his bat to get the ball over long-on. Brings up the 150 for GT. Gets two off the last ball. Good commitment despite the bodily discomfort. Harshal concedes 12 off this over and looks a bit exasperated at the end of it all.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:47

GT 141/3 in 16 Overs

Arshdeep comes in for his third over of the night and Vijay Shankar drives through cover for a single. Gill follows, with a single through midwicket, off a yorker. Arshdeep then sends in a slower bouncer, which goes to deep square leg. Just a single yet again for GT. Sublime timing from Shubman as he runs two after sending the ball so easily through midwicket. Seven runs come off the over in total.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:41

GT 134/3 in 15 Overs

Fifty for Shubman Gill

Harpreet Brar will bowl out and get off to a conservative start. Brar tries to go into the pads to Vijay Shankar, the batter clips it to the leg side for a single. Gill then gets two through cover. He then swats the ball to the square boundary to bring up his half-century. Arshdeep then saves a run for his team as he stops the ball from getting past the ropes at fine leg. 11 runs conceded by Brar as he wraps up for the night.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:32

GT 123/3 in 14 overs

Harshal removes Sai Sudarshan

What can Harshal Patel do? Punjab is criminally leaking boundaries here and it will cost them dearly if this continues.

Harshal oscillates with length deliveries and has managed to keep things quiet for the time being. No width at all. He then sends one tempting Sai Sudarshan to dispatch it for a few runs, but it ends up going to Jitesh behind the stumps, who takes a simple catch. The umpire takes a few seconds to mull over the passage of play and raises his finger. Vijay Shankar is the new batter. Just four runs and the wicket from this over. Brilliant over from Harshal Patel.

  • The second time-out of the innings is taken. Make sure to grab some refreshments as we wait and see how Gujarat ends its batting innings.

APRIL 04, 2024 20:28

GT 119/2 in 13 Overs

Rabada is in for his third over of the night. Sai Sudarshan steals a single. Shubman Gill then treats Rabada with disdain, smacking this with a straight bat over the bowler’s head for six. So much grace from Gill. A single brings Sai Sudarshan back on strike and he is not to be left behind. Anxious moments for PBKS

PBKS, which started with a victory over Delhi Capitals, is coming off two dispiriting losses against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants. It could have had one if it had not frittered away the chance from a commanding position against LSG. Chasing 200, PBKS was 102 for no loss before being blinded by Mayank Yadav’s searing pace. Shikhar Dhawan, Prabhsimran Singh, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran have been among the runs, but haven’t fired collectively. Livingstone suffered a hamstring injury against LSG that hampered his batting, and his fitness will be assessed on matchday morning.

Medium-pacer Harshal Patel has bled 137 runs from 12 overs while tweaker Rahul Chahar has blown hot and cold. Will the in-form Karnataka pacer Vidwath Kaverappa make his IPL bow?

The net worth of Byju Raveendran has decreased to zero from 17,545 crore in 2023. What took place?

The 2024 Index values Byju Raveendran at zero due to difficulties facing Byju, which formerly had a $22 billion peak valuation.

According to the most recent Forbes Billionaire Index, Byju Raveendran, the founder of the edtech company Byju, lost all of his wealth. Byju Raveendran was originally classified as having a net worth of ₹17,545 crore ($2.1 billion). However, due to obstacles, Byju’s valuation has dropped to zero in the 2024 Index.

Only four names from the previous year’s list were removed, according to Forbes. Among them was Byju Raveendran, a former Edtech star whose company Byju’s was hit by several crises and had BlackRock reduce its valuation to $1 billion, a small portion of its $22 billion high valuation in 2022.

What do you need to know about Byju’s?

Founded in 2011, the company expanded rapidly to become the most valued startup in India. It was valued at $22 billion in 2022 when the learning app, which catered to students aspiring to MBAs, was released. However, the company’s losses have been increasing as a result of recent financial disclosures and disputes.

BlackRock, a significant investor, reduced Byju’s valuation to under $1 billion after the company’s long-delayed fiscal year-end figures for March 2022 revealed a net loss of over $1 billion.

This occurred after Prosus NV and Peak XV Partners, among other shareholders, voted last month to remove Byju Raveendran from his position as CEO of the company. As part of its continuous business restructuring initiatives, the corporation also began the process of terminating employees. According to reports, Byju carried out the latest layoffs mostly by phone, with email notices coming in second.

Top summertime heart health mistakes to avoid; suggestions for cardiovascular health

While eating sugary and frozen meals can be delightful in the summer, they may be detrimental to your heart health. Some summertime blunders to steer clear of.

As summer draws near and the temperature rises daily, it’s critical that we maintain our fitness objectives, avoid giving in to the allure of cozy summer fare, and choose hydrating, gut-friendly meals instead. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a heatwave for the upcoming month, and high temperatures can have a negative impact on our heart health for a variety of reasons. It’s normal to have a craving for ice cream, sorbet, and refreshing, sweet drinks during this period. Consuming these drinks and frozen meals in excess can have a detrimental effect on our health by causing an accumulation of fat around internal organs such as the liver and heart. A heart attack or stroke may result from this, as well as an increase in diabetes risk and cholesterol levels.

The problem with sugary drinks

“As the name implies, sugary drinks typically have a very high sugar content. These beverages are high in calories yet low in nutrients. They are digested by the body and turned into lipids after consumption. Thus, frequent consumption of them may result in weight gain, which is undesirable. More significantly, though, is that this extra fat is stored not only beneath the skin but also inside the body, in the liver and the area surrounding the heart. Visceral fat is a specific kind of fat that poses a serious risk, according to Dr. Manish Bansal, Senior Director of Clinical & Preventive Cardiology at Cardiac Care, Medanta, Gurugram.

“Excess visceral fat harms the liver, lowers the effectiveness of insulin (a condition known as insulin resistance), increases the risk of developing diabetes, and negatively affects cholesterol levels. While HDL (or “good”) cholesterol levels decrease, the level of LDL (or “bad”) cholesterol increases. Another type of fat in the blood that increases is triglycerides. The expert continues, “All of these imbalances encourage the growth of atherosclerotic plaques, which are fatty deposits that clog arteries and reduce blood flow to the heart, raising the risk of a heart attack.

Additionally, studies have demonstrated that a high sugar diet might cause the body to experience low-grade chronic inflammation. This inflammation has the potential to worsen blood vessel wall damage and promote plaque accumulation, which in turn raises the risk of subsequent heart attacks.

TIPS TO PREVENT HEART ATTACK IN SUMMERS

Dr Bansal shares some key strategies to prioritise your cardiovascular health during the summer months:

Hydration is key: Dehydration can place significant strain on your heart. Ensure proper hydration by opting for water over sugary drinks. Carrying a reusable water bottle and refilling it regularly is a simple yet effective practice.

Mindful alcohol consumption: Summer socialising often involves alcoholic beverages. Excessive alcohol intake leads to weight gain, elevates blood pressure and weakens the heart muscle, increasing the risk of cardiovascular complications. Moderation is crucial but minimising it as much as possible is even better. Choose water between alcoholic drinks and pace yourself.

Prioritise exercise: While the summer heat might make exercise less appealing, maintaining physical activity throughout the year is vital for heart health. Explore cooler morning or evening workouts or consider indoor alternatives like swimming.

“Karnataka will not see a Modi wave,” said Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.

DK Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, asserted that the BJP broke all of its pledges and accomplished nothing in the state during its four years in power.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President D K Shivakumar stated his party is in a comfortable position because there isn’t a “Modi wave” in the state on Wednesday, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He asserted that the BJP broke all of its pledges and accomplished nothing in the state during its four years in power.

“With regard to Karnataka, Congress is in a very comfortable position. In an exclusive interview with PTI, Shivakumar stated, “There is no Modi wave in Karnataka because Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not left any footprint in Karnataka during the last 10 years of his rule.”

He stated that even with the catastrophic drought that 230 out of 236 taluks were experiencing, the Union government had taken crores of rupees in taxes from Karnataka, but the state had received nothing in return. Shivakumar asserted that Congress will win with a margin of victory over two lakh votes in the Bengaluru Rural constituency, where the BJP is fielding renowned cardiologist Dr. C N Manjunath against his brother and three-time MP D K Suresh.

Shivakumar declared that the public would reject the BJP-JD(S) coalition, calling it a failure in their election collaboration in Karnataka. “(H D) Kumaraswamy (JD(S) leader and NDA’s Mandya candidate) and all the JDS candidates will lose,” he stated.

Shivakumar responded to reports that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had accused him of corruption by saying they were political accusations. “They have not been able to provide any evidence against me. “These are unfounded accusations made against me,” Shivakumar continued.

Declaring that the Congress party as a whole is unified, Shivakumar refuted any disagreement within the party on the distribution of tickets for the Lok Sabha elections. “There is no disagreement, and we will resolve the issue in a day. However, the BJP is on fire from within. The BJP will be killed by its own workers. He said, “The BJP has switched (candidates) in about ten seats and they are aware that they are losing the polls.
