Even though the release of the iPhone 16 is still a ways off, rumors about it are constantly being circulated to keep fans interested. Out of the four models in the series, the iPhone 16 is arguably the least popular, but this year the company might give us a fresh take on the design. Every year, Apple updates the base models with a few Pro features.

However, the bigger changes expected with the iPhone 16 Pro models could be the rumored shutter button for the camera which makes sense and a whole new set of cameras at the back that can take advantage of the supposed AI features that iOS 18 will offer later this year. Apple must continue with the focus on differentiating the vanilla and Pro models which gives people the reason to spend big on the Pros.

The Chinese government ordered Apple to remove WhatsApp and Threads from its App Store in China, citing national security issues.

Apple said on Friday that it has taken Meta Platforms’ WhatsApp and Threads down from the Chinese App Store at the behest of the Chinese government, which used the excuse of national security concerns.

Checks by Reuters on Friday morning revealed that other Meta apps, including as Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, were still accessible. You could download a ton of other well-known apps made by Western firms, like YouTube and X.

It was not immediately apparent how Chinese officials would have been concerned about the security of WhatsApp or Threads.

Apple sent a comment to Reuters via email stating that “the Cyberspace Administration of China ordered the removal of these apps from the China storefront based on their national security concerns.”

“We are obligated to follow the laws in the countries where we operate, even when we disagree,” the statement continued.

Apple was contacted by Meta after they declined to comment.

An inquiry for comment was not immediately answered by the Chinese Cyberspace Administration.

iPhone 16 Pro may get an upgraded ultra-wide camera

Leaks suggest a major camera improvement for the lineup, especially the ultra-wide camera. The phone may come with a 48MP ultra-wide shooter – a significant upgrade from the current 12MP version in the iPhone 15 Pro. This change is likely to bring better performance in various shooting conditions, particularly low light, more detailed photos, and more editing and post-processing flexibility.

Camera likely to get more optical Zoom

The cameras on smartphones are getting more advanced. According to reports, Apple is bringing the enhanced tetraprism camera design—which is only seen in the iPhone 15 Pro Max—to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro.
