IPL 2024 DC vs. CSK: On Sunday, MS Dhoni took the field to bat for the first time in his Indian Premier League career.

At the ACA-VDCA in Hyderabad on Sunday, MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, took the field to bat for the first time in the Indian Premier League 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals.

The 42-year-old last batted for CSK against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final.

Dhoni got off to a fantastic start, slamming the first delivery he faced from Mukesh Kumar for a four. He knocked one more over in the same over after pulling the short delivery behind square.

Eighth man, Dhoni entered the game with CSK needing 72 runs in 23 balls. Dhoni hit Mukesh Kumar square with the first ball he faced for a four. At backward point, he was dropped on the second ball. He drove past the cover to end the 17th over with another four.

With his fifth delivery of the IPL 2024, Dhoni hit a lofted cover drive that soared over the boundary for his maiden six.

Anrich Nortje’s opening delivery was hit for four by Dhoni, with 41 runs needed off the last over. Dhoni punished the low full toss on the next ball, smashing it over long off for a six. He then scored another boundary, this time over mid-on, on Nortje’s fourth ball. With six over covers, he ended the over.

The five-time IPL champion captain struck at 231.25 in his debut innings after 307 days, remaining undefeated on 37 off 16 balls with four fours and three sixes.

with M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on March 29, Kohli hammered his 52nd half-century in 36 deliveries. Against KKR, he scored an undefeated 83 runs with a strike rate of 140.67. He hit four huge sixes and four boundaries.

With that, he overtook Heinrich Klaasen, the hard-hitting wicketkeeper from Hyderabad, to take the lead in runs scored in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Kohli won the Orange Cap in 2016, and this season he plans to try to match that performance.

One of the other milestones that Kohli achieved tonight was surpassing the illustrious AB de Villiers to become Bengaluru’s all-time leading scorer of sixes (239).

He even became the batter with the most sixes hit in IPL tournament history when he hit his 240th size for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, surpassing Chris Gayle.

The 35-year-cricketer has now 101 fifty-plus scores in the shortest format of the game and has become the first Indian and third batter across the world to reach this feat in T20 cricket. Chris Gayle leads the most 50-plus score (110), followed by David Warner (109).

IPL 2024: RR vs LSG Live Score: With a dominating victory at home, the Rajasthan Royals kick off the new IPL season; Avesh Khan successfully defends 25 runs in the final over.

Lucknow Super Giants vs. Rajasthan Royals and RR vs. LSG Real-time score: The early departures of their top-order batsmen in quick succession left the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with a depressing start to their chase. Trent Boult’s skillful bowling demonstrated its strength as he took the vital wickets of Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal, undermining LSG’s early lead. Chennai Super Kings did ‘CSK things’ and Royal Challengers Bengaluru did ‘RCB things’ as the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off in grand fashion at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Friday.

It was the early onslaught from Rachin Ravindra that really made the difference between the two sides. While RCB too had a quick start, it was not able to sustain it. CSK could do that courtesy of 37 off 15 from Rachin and Ajinkya Rahane’s 19-ball 28. There was a brief period where two wickets gave some hope to Faf & Co but Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja got together to end that.

The final total looked a distant dream when RCB was struggling at 42 for three at the end of the PowerPlay. Faf du Plessis gave the side a strong start which withered away with three quick wickets. Virat Kohli and Cameron Green arrested the slide for a bit before Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik added 95 runs for the sixth wicket, taking the side to a respectable 173. But Karthik admitted this is a batting pitch and that the RCB bowlers need to bowl “out of their skins” to win.

Tushar to bowl the final over of the innings. He starts with a WIDE. The plan looks fairly clear. Tushar wants to target yorker-length deliveries outside off stump and in that process bowls two wides while RCB loses two reviews reviewing two calls for wide. FOUR! Dinesh gets an outside edge which runs away at third man. Karthik misses to get a connection in the final delivery and Dhoni nails the direct hit to run out Anuj Rawat who was just shy of making his ground. Anyhow a brilliant comeback from the wicket-keeper duo which added 95 off 50 for the sixth wicket and took RCB to 173.

Mustafizur with his final over. Dinesh Karthik lofts it over infield and runs two as RCB gets to 150. Mustafizur to Rawat, SIX! This young man can bat! He walks down the track and hits Mustafizur for a straight six. FOUR! This time Karthik plays fine and it runs away at the boundary. 16 off this over.

Tushar Deshpande to bowl the 18th over. Karthik changes his stance and tries to play the reverse sweep, Tushar follows him but bowls way outside offside and it is a WIDE. Tushar to Dinesh, SIX! Brilliant shot! A flat-batted straight six. Tushar to Rawat, SIX! This time full and in the batter’s slot as Rawat smokes it over deep mid-wicket for a gigantic six. Tushar to Rawat, SIX! Full toss and easy pickings for Rawat, who clears the long-on boundary. FOUR! Slower one from Tushar and Rawat plays fine to get 25 from this over.

Dangerman Mustafizur comes back into the attack. FOUR! Rawat shuffles and pulls the short ball for a boundary. Another excellent over from Mustafizur who gives only seven from this over after going for a boundary and bowling a wide.

Mahesh Theekshana with his fourth over. FOUR! Karthik sweeps with authority and and ball races away for a boundary at deep square leg. SIX! Full toss on offer for Karthik and he rocks back and lofts it over deep long-on to end the over with a maximum.
