Israel Attacked Iran, S-300 Air Defense System Was the Target: Report.

According to American news agencies, Israel carried out the attacks; however, the Jewish state did not confirm or deny conducting the terrorist attacks.

Drones and missiles attacked the Iranian region of Isfahan last week. According to reports, the strike started in Israel and was directed at the area where Iran’s nuclear facilities and air defense systems are located.
According to American news agencies, Israel carried out the attacks; however, the Jewish state did not confirm or deny executing the operations. The explosions happened a week after Iran attacked Israel, its main regional competitor, with drone, ballistic, and cruise missile attacks. The amazing targeted strikes from Tehran came after hostilities had reached a breaking point.

Satellite photos of the area that was hit by drones and a missile that was allegedly fired from a warplane have been examined by the BBC and the New York Times. Northeast of Isafan International Airport is where a battery of the Russian-built S-300 Surface-Air anti-ballistic missile defense system is visible in the satellite photos. On April 15, satellite photos depict the S-300 defense system situated at the top-secret location. The location is deserted and devoid of any signs of the S-300 missile defense system, according to the most recent Google Earth photograph dated April 19. The attack site lies to the north of the nuclear facility in Natanz.

IPL 2024: RR vs MI head-to-head, Jaipur pitch report, weather forecast.

The system comprises several vehicles equipped with radar, distinctive missile launchers, and other equipment, the BBC reported based on its analysis. The drones and missiles reportedly struck the system, implying that Israeli weapons managed to evade the Iranian air defense system and went undetected and hit a region armed with an anti-ballistic missile defense system.

The two Iranian officials said that Iran’s military had not detected anything entering Iran’s airspace on Friday, including drones, missiles and aircraft, the New York Times reported. The assessment is backed by Iran’s state media agency IRNA, which said, no missile attacks had occurred and that Iran’s air defence system had not been activated. The satellite images assessed by the BBC and the New York Times show damage to the facility.

The BBC said the radar of the S-300 defence system was damaged but the missile launchers were intact. The fire control radar directs the missile toward the target and is an important element in the system. Iran International, a news agency critical of the regime, said, “The image shows clearly that the system’s engagement radar, which guides the surface-to-air missiles, has been destroyed,” Farzin Nadimi, a Senior Fellow at the Washington Institute, told the agency.

The extent of the damage is still unknown and what weapons were used reportedly by Israel is still unclear as both sides have denied the claims. However, the New York Times, quoting Western officials, reported that Israel’s attack was calculated to deliver a message to Iran that it could bypass its defense systems undetected, adding that, neither the missile nor the aircraft that fired it entered Jordanian airspace, the Western officials said.

Russia completed the delivery of the S-300 air defense system to Iran in 2016 after years of negotiation. The supply of one of the most formidable air defense systems sparked concerns within Israel. In 2010, Russia was forced to scrap the deal with Iran following pressure from the West.

India’s fourth-largest military spender, overall global spending accelerates SIPRI Report.

India’s fourth-largest military With a total of $83.6 billion spent on the military in 2023, India was the fourth-largest spender in the world, up 4.2% from the year before. This information is taken from a report published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), which also showed that military spending has increased globally, rising to $2,443 billion, or 7% more than in 2022. Russia, China, and the United States were among the top ten countries that increased their military spending.

China is front and center of gold record-breaking rally this year.

According to a reputable war think-tank, India spent the fourth most on the military in the world in 2023. The nation spent 4.2% more on military spending in 2022, totaling $83.6 billion.
Global military spending increased by 7% to $2,443 billion in 2023, marking the highest annual growth since 2009, according to the most recent Stockholm International Peace Research Institute report (SIPRI).

The United States, China, and Russia topped the list of the ten countries that boosted their military spending in 2023, according to the research.

According to Nan Tian, Senior Researcher at SIPRI’s Military Expenditure and Arms Production Programme, the rise was a direct reaction to a decline in peace and security throughout the world.

“States are prioritizing military strength but they risk an action-reaction spiral in the increasingly volatile geopolitical and security landscape,” Tian stated.

SIPRI noted that the percentage change was stated in real terms using constant 2022 prices.

With a protracted struggle between the government and non-state armed groups, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (+105%) saw the greatest percentage increase in military spending by any nation in 2023. According to the survey, South Sudan saw the second-largest percentage growth (78%) amid internal conflict and the aftermath of the Sudanese civil war.

China is front and center of gold record-breaking rally this year.

China and India have historically competed to be the largest global purchasers. However, that changed last year when Chinese coin, gold, and bar consumption surged to all-time highs.

This year, gold has surged to record highs above $2,400 per ounce, captivating markets around the world. The nation that produces and consumes the most precious gold worldwide, China, is at the forefront of this remarkable rise.

Gold’s image as an investment is enhanced by rising geopolitical concerns, such as the conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine, and the possibility of a drop in US interest rates. Unrelenting Chinese demand, however, is driving the increase since bullion is viewed as a reliable store of value in uncertain times by ordinary buyers, fund managers, futures traders, and even the central bank.

AI increasing impact on journalism: Check risks, the most current developments, and more.

Biggest Buyer

India and China have historically competed to be the largest global purchasers. However, that changed last year when Chinese coin, jewelry, and bar consumption surged to all-time highs. Demand for gold jewelry decreased by 6% in India but increased by 10% in China. Investments in Chinese bars and coins, however, increased by 28%.

Furthermore, according to Philip Klapwijk, managing director of Hong Kong-based consultant Precious Metals Insights Ltd., there is still potential for demand to increase. A weaker yuan, unstable stock markets, a lengthy property sector crisis, and restricted investment opportunities in China are all pushing capital toward safer assets.

“The weight of money available under these circumstances for an asset like gold – and actually for new buyers to come in – is pretty considerable,” he said. “There isn’t much alternative in China. With exchange controls and capital controls, you can’t just look at other markets to put your money into.”

Imports Jump

Although China mines more gold than any other country, it still needs to import a lot and the quantities are getting larger. In the last two years, overseas purchases totaled over 2,800 tons — more than all of the metal that backs exchange-traded funds around the world, or about a third of the stockpiles held by the US Federal Reserve.

Even so, the pace of shipments has accelerated lately. Imports surged in the run-up to China’s Lunar New Year, a peak season for gifts, and over the first two months of the year are 53% higher than they were in 2023.

Bank Central

For the longest period, the People’s Bank of China has been buying nonstop for 17 months in an attempt to diversify its reserves away from the dollar and protect against currency devaluation.

Among the several central banks that are supporting gold, it is the most enthusiastic buyer. The official sector bought up nearly all of the precious metals last year, and it is anticipated that they will continue to do so in 2024.

Shanghai Premium

It’s indicative of gold’s allure that Chinese demand remains so buoyant, despite record prices and a weaker yuan that robs buyers of purchasing power.

As a major importer, gold buyers in China often have to pay a premium over international prices. That jumped to $89 an ounce at the start of the month. The average over the past year is $35 versus a historical average of just $7.

More Rain To Hit UAE From Monday, Week After Record Deluge In Dubai.

For sure, sky-high prices are likely to temper some enthusiasm for bullion, but the market’s proving to be unusually resilient. Chinese consumers have typically snapped up gold when prices drop, which has helped establish a floor for the market during times of weakness. Not so this time, as China’s appetite is helping to prop up prices at much higher levels.

That suggests the rally is sustainable and gold buyers everywhere should be comforted by China’s booming demand, said Nikos Kavalis, managing director at consultancy Metals Focus Ltd.

China’s authorities, which can be quite hostile to market speculation, are less sanguine. State media have warned investors to be cautious in chasing the rally, while both the Shanghai Gold Exchange and Shanghai Futures Exchange have raised margin requirements on some contracts to snuff out excessive risk-taking. SHFE’s move followed a surge in daily trading volumes to a five-year high.

ETF Flows

A less frenetic way to invest in gold is via exchange-traded funds. Money has flowed into gold ETFs in mainland China during almost every month since June, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. That compares with chunky outflows in gold funds in the rest of the world.

The influx of money has totaled $1.3 billion so far this year, compared with $4 billion in outflows from funds overseas. Restrictions on investing in China are again a factor here, given the fewer options for Chinese beyond domestic property and stocks.

Chinese demand could continue to rise as investors look to diversify their holdings with commodities, BI analyst Rebecca Sin said in a note.

BTS agency HYBE reacts after initiating an audit of ADOR’s management including CEO Min Hee-jin.

According to reports, BTS agency HYBE also submitted a request for Hee-jin’s resignation from ADOR’s CEO position.

An audit of BTS agency HYBE’s label ADOR, which includes CEO Min Hee-jin, has been started. According to Soompi, HYBE commented on the action. Hee-jin established the HYBE label ADOR in 2021. Moreover, ADOR started NewJeans. Hee-jin and ADOR management own the remaining 20% of ADOR, while HYBE owns the remaining 80%.

HYBE’s audit of ADOR

On Monday, South Korean industry representatives reported that HYBE initiated the audit after finding that ADOR has attempted to become independent. Reportedly, HYBE then called for a shareholders’ meeting to hold the ADOR management accountable.

The appointment of a second ADOR director from HYBE was another purpose of the gathering. Hee-jin and the current directors of ADOR migrated from SM Entertainment to join the company.

HYBE seeks resignation of Hee-jin

In addition to this, HYBE reportedly also sent a document asking for Hee-jin’s resignation as the CEO of ADOR. Replying to the reports, HYBE said, as quoted by Soompi, “It is true that an audit was initiated.”

HYBE’s recent deal

This occurred just a few days after HYBE and Universal Music Group announced an enhanced 10-year agreement that included exclusive distribution rights for the music of HYBE’s artists. “Universal Music Group will exclusively distribute physical albums and digital music released by labels under HYBE to the global market for the next 10 years,” HYBE told AFP.

According to the statement, the agreement covers “new labels to be incorporated under HYBE” as well as “existing labels.” “Universal Music Group is to also support promotion and marketing of HYBE artists’ activities in North America,” it stated. The news comes after HYBE and UMG first worked together on BTS in 2017 when they signed a distribution deal for Japan.

AI increasing impact on journalism: Check risks, the most current developments, and more.

Artificial intelligence: Google is testing a product called “Genesis,” which is a technology they developed, with publishers.

As per media analyst David Caswell, artificial intelligence is causing “a fundamental change in the news ecosystem” in the short term and is already upending journalism, according to AFP.

Speaking at a gathering of business executives in the Italian city of Perugia to address the most pressing issues affecting their industry, Caswell was formerly employed by Yahoo! and the innovation division of the British broadcaster, BBC News Labs.

How do you see the journalism of the future?

“We’re not sure. However, our goal is to comprehend every possibility—or as many as possible—that may exist. However, I believe that a few things are starting to become apparent. First, there’s a good chance that more material will be produced, originated, and sourced by machines. Thus, machines will gather more information for a great deal of journalism, produce more text, audio, and video, and create the kinds of consumption experiences that people have.

That is a fundamental shift in the news ecosystem specifically, as well as the information ecosystem as a whole. This is structurally distinct from the one we currently inhabit. We have no idea how long it will take; it may take two, four, or seven years. As there isn’t much friction, I believe it will go more quickly.

News devices, new technology, large sums of money for producers, and technical know-how are not necessities for the general public. Thanks to generative AI, everything that constituted a barrier in the earlier generation of AI is no longer so.

The most costly wedding in India cost more than the unions of Isha and Akash Ambani combined; the total amount spent was…

What are the latest developments underway in newsrooms?

“New technologies that facilitate AI workflow are one type of development; JP Politikens in Denmark, for instance, concentrated on increasing the effectiveness of their current products and operations. However, it also serves as a foundation for bringing their personnel, operations, and goods into this new AI world.

Google is testing a product called “Genesis,” which is a technology they developed, with publishers. Some publishers are creating their own. These utilities will be available in platform versions.

These are instruments that you bring with you to gather news; on the left side are your transcripts, PDFs, audio files, movies, etc. It facilitates tasks like analysis, summaries, script writing, and audio production. The tool is in charge of them.

The journalist’s responsibilities include organizing the tool, editing, and thorough content verification. Using the tool—like an editorial manager for an AI tool—becomes the job.

In theory, it functions. However, that’s not the same as using it day in and day out, month in and month out, in a newsroom within a vast business. The key question is: will it be eagerly embraced and utilized in a way that ultimately yields little productivity, or will it significantly increase journalistic production?”

IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans win low-scoring thriller in Mullanpur, hand Punjab Kings fourth straight loss

What is the cost?

“In the last decade, it was very expensive. It was very difficult: You needed the data, you had to build a data warehouse, have an enterprise deal with Amazon or Google Cloud, you had to hire data scientists, to have a team of data engineers. it was a major investment. Only the BBC, the New York Times, and this level of organizations could afford it.

That’s not true with generative AI. You can run news workflow through interfaces that you pay 20 dollars a month. You don’t need to be a coder. All you need is motivation, enthusiasm, and curiosity.

There are lots of people in news organizations who would not have been involved in AI in the past because they did not have the technical background and now they can just use it. It’s a much more open form of AI: both smaller newsrooms can do a lot with, and more junior individuals in more established newsrooms can do a lot with. I think it’s a good thing, but it’s also a disruptive thing. Often the internal politics in newsrooms are disrupted by that”.

At what stage of AI are we?

“AI has been around since the 1950s. But AI for practical purposes appeared with ChatGPT. It’s going to be quite a while — years — before we understand how to use them for valuable things. There are so many things that you can do with them.

The risk to journalism is that other organizations, start-ups, and tech companies will do things in the news faster than the news world itself. Lots of start-ups have no editorial component at all. They are swiping the content of news organizations, some are covering niches: they are monitoring press releases, social media channels, PDF from reports”.

What are the risks?

“Journalism has not been doing well for the last 10 or 15 years, there hasn’t been a credible vision of the future for how this is going to play out just in the social media world. What AI does (is) it gives news organizations a chance to change that situation, to participate in a new ecosystem. It’s good to be optimistic, get engaged, explore, have projects, and experiments, and maybe change your mindset, that’s positive.

As Jelani Cobb, Dean of Columbia School of Journalism, says: ‘ AI is the unignorable force that journalism will have to organize itself around’. It’s not going to adapt itself to journalism.

More Rain To Hit UAE From Monday, Week After Record Deluge In Dubai.

The storm that hit the UAE last week and dumped the most rain in 75 years of record won’t be similar to Monday’s deluge.

On Monday, April 22, almost a week after the deluge that brought Dubai a year’s worth of rain, the UAE is getting ready for more rain. The nation’s meteorological agency, according to the Khaleej Times, stated that the next showers won’t be “comparable” to last week’s downpour and don’t pose any concern. Before hammering the UAE with its highest rains in 75 years of records, the storm struck Oman and killed 20 people.

Four days of flooding were followed by the return of regular operations to the Dubai airport on Saturday. Khaleej Times was informed by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) that Monday evening could see mild to moderate rain. It further stated that by Wednesday, conditions should improve with a five to seven-degree temperature decrease.

“There’s no reason to worry; there isn’t any heavy precipitation at this time. It’s not the same as what happened last week. Dr. Ahmed Habib, a climate scientist from NCM, informed the source that the clouds will not be intense but rather moderate, moving from the western shore into the UAE.

There’s a risk of drizzle or light rain. As these clouds move eastward toward the highlands, they may produce slightly above-average rainfall only in mountainous regions. Initially, they are expected to bring mild rainfall to Abu Dhabi. All of the cloud cover will move outside of the UAE and toward Oman on Wednesday morning, according to Dr. Habib.

The rainfall will start from Monday noon.

Janardhana Reddy made reservations for 1,500 rooms at three- and five-star hotels in Bengaluru, making every effort to provide guests with an opulent and comfortable stay.

With the luxury and grandeur of an Indian wedding standing out, the term “Great Indian Wedding” is aptly chosen. The marriage in 2016 of Brahmani Reddy, the daughter of mining baron and former minister of Karnataka G Janardhana Reddy, to Rajiv Reddy, the son of industrialist Vikram Deva Reddy from Hyderabad, was reported to have been the most costly wedding in India, with an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore.

Janardhana Reddy spared no cost in the extravagant wedding. Over an amazing five days, 50,000 guests were treated to an exhibition of unmatched luxury.

The focal point of the extravagant event was Brahmani Reddy’s Akash Ambani wedding dress, a brilliant red Kanjeevaram saree with gold threadwork. The saree, created by famed fashion designer Neeta Lulla, was estimated to be worth an incredible Rs 17 crore. The ensemble was a representation of richness and tradition as well as grace.

Brahmani’s jewelry selections also generated conversation during the nuptials. Her bridal outfit was enhanced by a Rs 25 crore diamond choker necklace. Her entire collection of bridal jewelry, which included hair accessories, maang tikka, and panchdala, was valued at Rs 90 crore.

The venue itself was a marvel, curated by Bollywood’s art directors to resemble the ruins of Hampi, the capital of the Vijayanagar Empire. So you had sections of the ground that had replicas of King Krishnadevaraya’s palace, Lotus Mahal, Akash Ambani Mahanavami Dibba, and the Vijaya Vittala Temple among other buildings. The dining area transported guests to a quaint Bellary village, creating a unique and immersive experience.

As many as 40 royal chariots ferried guests within the venue, complemented by 2,000 taxis and 15 helicopters arranged to bring attendees to the celebration.

The hospitality extended to a royal platter, featuring an assortment of 16 delectable sweets. The meticulous attention to detail showcased the Reddy family’s commitment to offering an unforgettable experience for their esteemed guests.

The invite, which went out months before the wedding, reportedly cost Rs 5 crore and it had an LCD screen that played a choreographed song starring the family. It also included a silver Ganesha idol.

However, the spectacle did not come without its fair share of controversy as Janardhana Reddy faced significant backlash for the perceived excesses. Political opponents and various groups rallied against the unabashed display of wealth, raising questions about responsible spending, especially by public figures.
