Anthony Edwards Subtly makes Fun of Karl-Anthony Towns’ Infamous “After All That” Saying During Press Conference.

Anthony Edwards jested on his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns during the post-game interview after the Timberwolves clinched the Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets. Edwards
subtly made fun of Towns’ infamous “after all that” saying by humorously repeating the line after Towns said it during the interview.
Edwards repeating his teammate was likely a throwback to Towns’ viral moment of him saying “after all that” in a different voice over a year ago during an unofficial interview.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards combined for 39 points as the Timberwolves defeated the reigning champions 98-90 in Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference finals. Towns led the team’s winning effort, registering 23 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.
The Timberwolves’ stunning comeback from a 15-point hole at halftime set an NBA playoff record for the biggest turnaround in Game 7. Edwards was instrumental in the comeback, starting with four points and three assists at halftime before finishing with 16 points, eight
rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

“Man, f**k them 9 years”: Anthony Edwards hilariously interrupts Karl-Anthony Towns during career reflection

Before the current season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were unable to win a single playoff series since 2004. The team missed the postseason for 14 consecutive years since then before ending their drought in 2018.
Drafted first overall by the Timberwolves in 2015, Karl-Anthony Towns experienced the organization’s struggles firsthand. The four-time NBA All-Star missed the playoffs in five of his first six years in the league and only won his first playoff series in his ninth year.
Towns reflected upon his nine-year Timberwolves tenure during the post-game interview after clinching the series against the Nuggets on Sunday.

Edwards was drafted first overall by the Timberwolves in 2020. The 22- year-old led the team to the playoffs for three straight seasons and
has established himself as one of the league’s premier young stars.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards will look to make a deeper playoff run as the Minnesota Timberwolves face the Dallas Mavericks next for the Western Conference finals.

India and China Relations: Back to Basics.

On 27 April, the defence minister of India, Rajnat Singh, met his Chinese counterpart, Li Shangfu, on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers Meeting in Delhi. The meeting was yet another attempt to find a way out of the three-year-long standoff between thousands of soldiers along the disputed border, which began in May 2020 when Indian and Chinese forces clashed in the Galwan Valley, killing 20 Indian soldiers and an undisclosed number of Chinese ones. Since then, officials from both countries have met for 18 rounds of talks to try to agree on a disengagement of troops from the area with no success. India has blamed China for unilaterally trying to move the border by sending troops beyond the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between the countries. While it is in both China’s and India’s interest to settle the dispute, Beijing seems unwilling to engage in actual negotiations about the LAC, instead expressing hope that the two sides could move on from the issue and strengthen their mutual trust.

India’s and China’s dispute along the border is illustrative of the growing rivalry between the two countries, which is shaping the security landscape and strategic environment of South Asia. China is gaining power and influence in the Indo-Pacific – where India has long been the dominant power – and using it as yet another arena for its strategic rivalry with the United States. Given Europe’s trade with the region and the complex interplay of relations between China, the US, India, Russia, and the European Union, this dynamic will have severe consequences not just for the region, but for Europe as well.

Beijing has tightened its grip over the entire Indian Ocean region in the past two decades. It has created a network of military and commercial facilities – the so-called string of pearls – and strengthened its economic relations with countries of the region. In 2022, Sri Lankan debt obligations to China rose to $7 billion, while the Maldives owes some 40 per cent of its GDP to China. These economic dependencies have eroded India’s influence in its immediate neighbourhood. New Delhi had built up strong diplomatic ties with other countries in the region through its “island diplomacy” and initiatives such as the Security and Growth for all in the Region maritime cooperation. China’s investment in the region has now pushed New Delhi into an economic competition which it may ultimately have difficulties sustaining.

New Delhi still exerts a dominant role in South Asia and, specifically, the Indian Ocean, but as China consolidates its position in the region, its attitude towards India has become more assertive. India remains resolute about preventing Chinese hegemony in Asia, repeatedly stressing that a multipolar world starts with a multipolar Asia, and seeking partnerships with a variety of countries, including the US and the EU. Beijing is concerned about India’s growing military ties with the US and tends to consider India’s intentions through the lens of its own rivalry with the US. India’s inability to push back China at the border also further diminishes New Delhi’s influence over the smaller regional states, namely Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and even the Maldives, by absorbing the financial, military, and administrative resources that could be spent on expanding India’s footprint in the region. It also poses questions about India’s relative power and its ability to protect smaller neighbouring countries from Chinese coercion. This leaves New Delhi even more isolated in the region that includes its arch-rival Pakistan.

Both India and China insist that they want to rebuild trust but they cannot agree on the process. Because it currently has the upper hand, China would like trust building to remain a strictly bilateral matter and does not want organisations such as the G20 and the SCO, the other three BRICS states – Brazil, Russia, and South Africa – or even the ASEAN-led institutions to play any role in the so far hypothetical normalisation process. In doing so, China challenges India’s multilateral aspirations and de facto reduces New Delhi’s capacity to manage collectively the consequences of China’s rise for itself and the region. The war in Ukraine makes this even easier as Russia, traditionally on India’s side in multilateral regional arrangements, seems distracted and neutralised by its new, albeit uneasy, proximity to China.

The escalating tensions and aggression since 2013 are therefore no coincidence. Beijing’s coercion on the border and naval build-up in the Indian Ocean force India into a costly arms race and warn it against what Beijing considers excessive proximity to the US. In the ongoing great power competition between China and the US, every issue becomes a zero-sum game. This makes it harder for India to solve its border conflict with China and at the same time manage China’s rise and growing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific region in a peaceful manner.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali On His Friendship With Salman Khan: “Even If Inshallah Didn’t Happen, He Stands By Me”

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been making headlines for the past couple of weeks courtesy his latest offering – Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director opened up about the friendship he shares with Salman Khan, who has also starred in a number of films directed by him. During the interview, Sanjay said, “The only person that I’m still friendly with is Salman Khan. Even if Inshallah didn’t happen, he stands by me. He’ll call me; he’ll care for me. ‘Are you okay? Is there anything (you need)? You’ve goofed up, you messed up’. I enjoy his humour so much. It (phone call) comes once in three months, once in five months, but it comes because he doesn’t care about my film. He cares about me. ‘You, bro, you’ve done so many films with me, it doesn’t matter. Are you okay?’ And that is what it is all about.”

For those wondering, the two had been involved in the making of Inshallah but the project got shelved due to creative differences.

Talking about the film that didn’t go through, the director said, “On work, we may have sparred, we may have not had our moment correct, and it didn’t fall into place. But after one month, he called me, and I called him, and we talked. So that is a friend. In that sense, I’m fortunate enough to have that friend who once in six months will speak and will exactly start from where we left.”

Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have worked together in films like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Saawariya etc.

After the magnificent success of Heeramandi, the director is now gearing up for the shooting of his next film Love & War, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. The film is slated to release in December 2025.

Sambit Patra ‘Slip of Tongue’ on Lord Jagannath by BJP causes Controversy, says PM Modi.

The viral clip features Sambit Patra speaking to a private Odia channel where he can be heard saying that Lord Jagannath is PM Modi’s “bhakt” (devotee). The BJP leader later apologised, calling his remark a “slip of tongue”.

  • Sambit Patra, in a slip of tongue, stated that Lord Jagannath is PM Modi’s devotee
  • Naveen Patnaik and Arvind Kejriwal condemn Patra’s remark
  • Congress demands an apology from PM Modi

Sambit Patra, a BJP leader and the party’s candidate for the Puri Lok Sabha constituency, intentionally stirred up controversy when a careless comment he made about Lord Jagannath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral.

In the widely shared video, Patra is heard declaring that Lord Jagannath is PM Modi’s bhakt (devotee) while speaking to a private Odia station.

“Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannatha is the Lord of Universe,” declared Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha and the leader of the ruling Biju Janata Dal, in response to the film. It is an affront to the Lord to refer to Mahaprabhu as a follower of another person. Across the world, this has offended and denigrated the beliefs of millions of Odias and Jagannatha bhaktas.”

Calling Lord Jagannath the greatest symbol of Odia asmita (pride), Patnaik denounced Patra’s statement.

“By this you have deeply hurt Odia Asmita and this will be remembered and condemned by the people of Odisha for a very long time,” he said.

Later, Sambit Patra clarified his remarks, emphasising that it was a slip of tongue.

Replying to Naveen Patnaik’s post on X, Sambit Patra wrote, “Naveen Ji Namaskar! I gave number of bytes today to multiple media channels after the massive success of Shri Narendra Modiji’s Road Show in Puri today, everywhere I mentioned that Modi ji is an ardent “Bhakt” of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu. By mistake during one of the bytes I pronounced just the opposite. I know you too know and understand this.”

“Sir, let’s not make an issue out of a nonexistent issue. We all have ‘slip of tongue’ sometimes. Thanks and Pranam,” he added.

In a video on X, Patra said he would fast for three days to repent for his mistake.

“Today, I am deeply troubled by the mistake I have made regarding Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath Ji,” a rough translation of Patra’s post in Hindi read.

“I bow down at the feet of Mahaprabhu Sri Jagannath Ji and beg for forgiveness. I will be fasting for the next three days to correct my mistake and repent,” he added.

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal also criticised Patra, calling his remark an “insult to God”.

“I strongly condemn this statement of BJP. They have started thinking that they are above God. This is height of arrogance. Calling God bhakt of Modi ji is an insult to God,” he said.

The Congress also hit out at the BJP over Patra’s remark. “BJP leader Sambit Patra says that Mahaprabhu Lord Shri Jagannath is a devotee of Narendra Modi. This is a grave insult to Mahaprabhu. This statement has hurt the faith of crores of devotees. Sambit Patra, who is immersed in Modi Bhakti, should not have committed this sin. Narendra Modi himself should apologize for this disgusting statement,” a post on party’s X handle read.

Zirakpur Areas Reel Under Power Cuts.

Zirakpur Areas Reel Under Power Cuts. Electricity, water issues missing from poll talk

Zirakpur, 19 May

Every day, Zirakpur residents have to endure protracted power outages in the sweltering heat.

Residents reported that unplanned power outages lasting up to four hours are implemented every day on average. “We have had daily power outages in our location for the last four days. After a half-hour, the power supply is restored, but everything goes back to normal, according to Baltana resident KR Sharma.

Residents have complained that power outages don’t just happen in the afternoons in numerous places. Even in Dhakoli, there is no electricity at night. We are the only ones aware of how terrifying this experience is for us. There isn’t a single politician or PSPCL official discussing this issue. One typical response is maintenance work, according to Peermuchhalla resident Vinay Srivastav.

Officials of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) said there was no shortage of power but in summers, overloading issues cropped up in old cables and transformers.

Uninterrupted power supply and safe drinking water are big issues in Zirakpur, Kharar and Mohali, yet no politician is talking about these. A large number of residents suffer from diarrhoea and vector-borne diseases year after year, yet nothing is being done to address the problem.

A resident of Sunny Enclave, Zirakpur, SC Dhall, said, “We have been facing water scarcity for the past two days. Normal water supply was restored last evening.”

At Shakti Nagar in Dera Bassi, which is also known as Tubewell Colony, residents have been facing water scarcity for the past one week. Water is being supplied through tankers there.
