WWE King And Queen Of The Ring 2024 Results & Highlights

WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 literally crowned two new stars, with Nia Jax winning the women’s tournament finals and Gunther defeating Randy Orton to win the men’s.

As a result, Jax and Gunther will face off for world titles at this year’s SummerSlam event, confirming two high-profile bouts more than two months out from WWE’s summer show. In addition, Liv Morgan won her first women’s world title in five years, Cody Rhodes defended his Universal Championship, while Sami Zayn maintained the Intercontinental Championship after leaving Saudi Arabia.

The full Results for the show were:

  • Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch to win the Women’s World Championship
  • Sami Zayn defeated Bronson Reed and Chad Gable to retain the Intercontinental Title
  • Nia Jax won the Queen of the Ring tournament by beating Lyra Valkyria
  • Gunther won the King of the Ring tournament by defeating Randy Orton
  • Cody Rhodes beat Logan Paul to retain the Universal Championship

Following the fantastic record-breaking Backlash event, WWE gave another stellar performance in front of a rowdy crowd. From the show-opening bout between Morgan and Lynch to the main event between Rhodes and Paul, every match met—or even exceeded—its lofty expectations, putting WWE on the proper track towards SummerSlam.

But, what did WWE fans discover in Jeddah? Here are the main insights and highlights from King and Queen of the Rings 2024.

Liv Morgan Likely To Form Heel Tandom With Dominik Mysterio

Liv Morgan overcame Becky Lynch to claim her first singles title—the Women’s World Championship—in nearly a decade, but her success was not without controversy.

Dominik Mysterio of Judgement Day appeared to meddle in the fight by sliding a steel chair to Lynch in an attempt to aid “The Man” knock down Morgan. That made perfect sense, given that Morgan had sidelined Mysterio’s stablemate Rhea Ripley last month, prompting Ripley to drop Raw’s women’s title and sidelining her indefinitely.

But in recent weeks, there have been more than a few subtle hints that Morgan and Mysterio are truly working together. Given Morgan’s recent heel tendencies and his willingness to use underhanded tactics to defeat Lynch, all indicators point to a potential Morgan-Mysterio collaboration.

That would be a logical way to officially cement Morgan as a loathed heel champion because Mysterio is arguably the most hated performer in all of WWE.

Chad Gable Poised For New Stable After Another Loss To Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn leaves Saudi Arabia as Intercontinental Champion after pinning Bronson Reed in a triple threat match. But arguably the most interesting narrative to emerge from this WWE King and Queen of the Ring battle was that Gable’s Alpha Academy stablemate Otis eventually—and unintentionally—cost Gable his latest crack at the title.

Gable has failed multiple times in his attempt to defeat Zayn, and this time it was an unintentional clothesline from Otis that allowed Zayn to land the Helluva Kick on Reed and retain his title. That was the most recent event in the slow implosion of Gable’s present stable.

What’s the next step? Gable is a near lock to quarrel with Otis, but recent sources indicate that Gable is already planning to form another stable. Gable is anticipated to team up with the rarely seen but extremely talented Creed Brothers to establish a new heel alliance that might play a significant role on Monday Night Raw.

And given what happened in Jeddah, WWE is definitely creating the groundwork for Gable to finally move on from his long-running feud with Zayn and into a new storyline with the Creed Brothers by his side.

Cody Rhodes Vs. Logan Paul Delivers, But What’s Next For the Universal Champ?

Cody Rhodes defeated Logan Paul in his second consecutive outstanding Universal title match. That has become the standard for both Paul and Rhodes, who always turn up when the lights are brightest.

In a spot-filled main event that had Saudi Arabian fans on the edge of their seats, Rhodes finished off Paul with a Cross Rhodes, finishing off a King and Queen of the Ring programme that featured spectacular in-ring action from beginning to end. With Rhodes’ convincing victory and Paul already holding his own title, Rhodes is likely to face his third title challenger in as many shows.

What isn’t clear is exactly who that will be, however.

With Gunther winning the King of the Ring tournament and preparing to face Raw’s world title at SummerSlam, WWE will need to find new adversaries for Rhodes on SmackDown. And, truthfully, there aren’t many options for that.

Unless WWE decides to pit Orton against Rhodes in a babyface vs. babyface match, there are few opportunities on the blue brand, and the creative team must find a way to focus as much on Rhodes’ title reign as on The Bloodline saga.
