Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians, was fined Rs 24 lakh for keeping a sluggish over-rate on Tuesday, April 30, Mumbai’s IPL 2024 match against LSG at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The impact player and the other members of the playing XI were all fined Rs 6 lakh, or 25% of their match fee, whichever was lower. MI lost for the third time in a row this season as LSG won by four wickets.

This time, the Mumbai team received a harsh punishment because it was their second season of continuing a slow over-rate. Hardik, the captain of MI, received a second fine, this time double the amount. Previously, Hardik was fined Rs 12 Lakh for slow over-rate during MI’s match versus PBKS. Hardik was fined for violating the IPL code of conduct regarding minimum over-rate offenses following LSG’s game.

Not just the captain the entire team was punished for not being able to finish the overs within the stipulated time. The BCCI in a statement mentioned the fines on MI players who participated in the match.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 24 Lac. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 Lac or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” BCCI added.
