To Put It Briefly
- Riyan Parag remained unbeaten at 54 to help RR win vs MI
- Riyan Parag has been crowned as the new Orange Cap holder in IPL
- Riyan explained the changes that he has made to get consistent at the IPL level
On Monday, April 1, at the Wankhede Stadium, teenage player Riyan Parag of Rajasthan played a mature innings of 54 not out against Mumbai. With his second straight fifty in the Indian Premier League, Parag overtook Virat Kohli as the highest run-scorer and took the Orange Cap.
In his detailed speech, Parag discussed the adjustments he had made to his strategy in front of the 2024 tournament season, stating that by streamlining his approach, he was seeing positive results. Parag finished the 2023 Indian Premier League with a total of 78 runs from 7 matches, however, he received a lot of backlash on social media for his antics.
Parag turned a corner in the 2024 season with the new No. 4 role in the Rajasthan side, where he came out early in all three matches.
Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) all Latest Update
In an interview with the broadcaster, Parag claimed that having the same job helped him succeed in the home circuit, where he had great success in the 2023 season. In fact, Parag became the first cricket player to score six consecutive half-centuries in Twenty20 matches.
To be honest, my batting isn’t outstanding. Rather than overdoing it, I keep things simple. In the past, I used to overthink things and try various approaches when I wasn’t getting runs. After the game, Riyan Parag stated, “This year, I’m keeping it simple: watch the ball and hit the ball.”
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
The player acknowledged that his prior seasons’ performances had fallen short of expectations and that he had come to the realization that his pre-IPL practise methods were the problem.
“I was not participating in the IPL for three or four years. When you know you can succeed and the results are not showing up, you actually return to the hotel room and consider going back to the drawing room. I went and practised at this level after realising I wasn’t. I spent a lot of practise with these specific types of balls (pace, seam, swing, and other elements that appear in higher levels), which is why I was able to achieve the outcomes and performances,” Parag said.
After the fifty, Parag’s amazing average of 181.00 from 3 matches presently stands at 181 runs.
