Brazilian Singer Dani Li, 42, Dies After Complications During Liposuction Surgery!

Brazilian pop star Dani Li tragically died aged 42 after complications during a liposuction surgery, the Metro reported. The singer, widely known in Brazil and who took part in talent shows in her hometown as a child, had an operation on Friday. It is understood that she went in for liposuction on her belly and back, as well as breast reduction. Unfortunately during the procedure in Brazil, she suffered complications and had to be rushed to a hospital. Ms Li, whose real name is Danielle Fonseca Machado, died on Wednesday.

“We are very shaken by all this. The burial will be on Saturday,” her husband, Marcelo Mira, with whom she shares a 7-year-old daughter, told local media, as per the Metro. Following her death, the family also shared on her Instagram account that a ceremony will take place at a larger venue for those who wish to pay their condolences and say goodbye “to our star”.

The 42-year-old became widely known in Brazil after her hit song ‘Eu sou da Amazonia’ (I’m from the Amazon). She was born in Afua in the Amazon jungle and began singing when she was 5 years old. After taking part in talent shows in her hometown, she moved to Macapa when she was 17. Her last song was released just two months ago.

Ms Li’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed as it’s not clear what led to the medical complication. An investigation into her death is reported to be underway, as per the Metro.

Announcing her death on Facebook, Ms Li’s close ones thanked fans for their support and said that though the family are “shaken” they are doing as well as possible.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, popular Brazilian influencer Luana Andrade tragically died last year after undergoing liposuction surgery on her knee at a hospital in Sao Paulo. The 29-year-old influencer suffered from 4 cardiac arrests after complications arose during the cosmetic procedure.

Ms Andrade’s heart stopped approximately two and a half hours into the surgery. The doctors stopped the fat removal procedure and tried to revive her. She was transferred to the intensive care unit. A medical investigation later revealed that the influencer suffered from a pulmonary embolism, which was associated with a thrombosis.

The average Chandigarh AQI (air quality index) on Tuesday stood at 344 around 8.05 pm, while it was 343 on Monday. The station in Sector 53, bordering Mohali, recorded the highest AQI level of 376 and the one in Sector 25 logged 295.

TC Nautiyal, Director, Environment, UT, said the drop in the air quality might be due to the prevailing weather conditions and also, there were reports of garbage burning mostly by junk dealers in the adjoining areas of the city.

With no rain expected any time soon, the AQI is likely to remain high in the coming days as well, according to the Meteorological Department.

The AQI between 301 and 400 is considered “very poor” and can cause respiratory illness on prolonged exposure. The AQI between 401 and 500 is considered “severe” and can affect healthy people and seriously impacts those with existing diseases.

Rahul Gandhi is to be charged by police for “provoking crowd,” according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s directive!

“Dive into the political heat as Rahul Gandhi faces potential charges for ‘provoking crowd’ as per Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s directive. Stay informed on this unfolding legal and political drama with insights into the implications and reactions surrounding the controversial situation.”

This comes after clashes broke out between Congress workers and Assam police after the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was stopped from entering Guwahati.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday asked state police to file a case against Rahul Gandhi for ‘provoking crowd’ amid Congress workers were stopped from entering Guwahati during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Nearly 5,000 Congress workers, along with Rahul Gandhi, trying to enter Guwahati on Tuesday were intercepted after the party restarted its flagship ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Assam today. Following this, party workers clashed with police officials and broke police barriers. Cops resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Addressing a gathering close to the Guwahati border, Rahul Gandhi said his party workers would never break the rules and disrupt law and order; however, “this doesn’t mean that we are weak”.

“Assam CM, the Union Home Minister and the PM can break the rules, but we (Congress) would never do such a thing. However, this doesn’t mean that we are weak. Congress workers are ‘Babbar Sher’,” he said, standing atop a bus.

Before leaving for Guwahati, the former Congress chief alleged that Union home minister Amit Shah instructed the Assam CM to stop him from meeting students, which was scheduled for today.

India now has the fourth-largest stock market in the world, overtaking Hong Kong!

Sensex results on the facade of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) building in Mumbai, India.

Indian exchanges value reach $4.33 trillion, exceeding Hong Kong’s $4.29 trillion: Bloomberg data.

India’s stock market has surpassed Hong Kong’s for the first time with the total value of shares listed on Indian exchanges reaching $4.33 trillion as of Monday’s close, exceeding Hong Kong’s $4.29 trillion, according to Bloomberg data. This makes India the world’s fourth-largest equity market.

The stock market capitalisation surpassed $4 trillion on December 5, with about half of that coming in the past four years, the report added.

Indian equities are surging, fuelled by a growing base of retail investors and robust corporate earnings. India presents itself as a viable alternative to China, attracting global capital and companies due to its stable political environment and a consumption-driven economy among the fastest-growing globally, according to the report.

Ashish Gupta, CIO at Axis Mutual Fund in Mumbai, expressed optimism, saying, “India has all the right ingredients in place to set the growth momentum further.”

China’s appeal as a global growth engine has diminished’

This upward trajectory in Indian stocks contrasts sharply with Hong Kong, which has experienced a historic downturn. Factors contributing to Hong Kong’s decline include stringent anti-Covid-19 measures in Beijing, regulatory crackdowns, a property-sector crisis, and geopolitical tensions with the West, the report said.

This has diminished China’s appeal as a global growth engine, resulting in a significant equities downturn, with Chinese and Hong Kong stocks losing over $6 trillion in total market value since their 2021 peaks, according to the report. Hong Kong’s role as a prominent hub for initial public offerings has waned amid the turmoil, it added.

“Gmail’s New Feature: Simplifying Your Inbox with the ‘Unsubscribe’ Option – Learn How to Declutter Your Emails Hassle-Free!”

Google has now simplified the process by separating the ‘unsubscribe’ option from emails on both the mobile and web versions of Gmail.

Given the surge in spam emails from diverse online advertising platforms, many users find them burdensome as they consume a significant portion of Gmail storage. Google has now simplified the process by separating the ‘unsubscribe’ option from emails on both the mobile and web versions of Gmail.

The technology giant divided the “Report spam & unsubscribe” category into two options: “Report spam” and “Unsubscribe.”

While it can be frustrating for users to receive numerous messages from subscribed sources, some individuals mistakenly categorise these legitimate messages as spam. This can adversely affect the sender’s credibility. To tackle this issue, Google has introduced a feature that enables users to decide whether to unsubscribe from such messages or report them as spam.

spam mails

You can now directly ‘unsubscribe’ to spam emails on Gmail.

As per a Live Mint report, the company through a Google Workspace update, announced the new features aimed at simplifying the process of unsubscribing from unwanted emails in Gmail. Google also acknowledged the frustration users experience in managing unwanted emails and emphasised that the changes are part of efforts to enhance user safety.

The company said that it is moving the unsubscribe button to the hover actions in the thread list on the web. Once the unsubscribe button is clicked on, Gmail sends an HTTP request or an email to the sender to remove the user’s address from the mailing address. Moving the unsubscribe button to the three-dot menu to appear more prominently in the user’s Android and iOS devices.

Google plans to enforce a one-click unsubscribe link requirement for bulk senders, defined as those sending over 5,000 emails, the Live Mint report further said citing to 9to5Google. This measure is expected to be implemented by February 2024. The one-click unsubscribe button will be prominently displayed in the message body, and commercial senders will be obligated to process these unsubscribe requests within a two-day timeframe.
