“Today, on Women’s Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in an X post.
“This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti,” the prime minister posted on Twitter.

In another post on X, Modi greeted people on the International Women’s Day.
“We salute the strength, courage, and resilience of our Nari Shakti and laud their accomplishments across various fields. Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and more,” he said.
The announcement also comes a day after the Centre approved an extension of targeted cooking gas subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2-kg cylinder to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by one more year till the end of 2024-25.

The LPG subsidy will be provided for up to 12 refills per year. For FY25, total expenditure under the scheme is estimated at Rs 12,000 crore, and the subsidy will be credited directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries. The total subsidy outgo for LPG this fiscal as per revised estimate is Rs 12,240 crore. For next fiscal, the interim Budget had made provision of Rs 11,925 crore under LPG subsidy.
