T20 World Cup 2024

Has Rahul Dravid Quit? ‘Growing a World Class Indian Cricket Team’ is the BCCI Established Objective for a New Coach.

For a position that will last until December 2027 as Team India’s head coach, the BCCI is accepting candidates. Age restriction, playing experience, and coaching experience are requirements for eligibility. In every format, the coach is supposed to be the team’s leader.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially invited applications for the next head coach of the men’s national team. Notably, current head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure came to an end after last year’s ODI World Cup, but was later extended until June in view of the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies.

According to BCCI, the new head coach will have a three-and-a-half-year tenure, starting immediately after the T20 World Cup and ending in December 2027, just after the conclusion of the next ODI World Cup.

Announcing the update in a release, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated, “The BCCI on Monday invited applications for the position of Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Team. Applications for the position should be submitted by 6PM IST on May 27, 2024. The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates.”

What is the eligibility for applying to be India’s next head coach?

The BCCI has stated that to be eligible for the post of Team India head coach, candidates should be under the age of 60, have played a minimum of 30 Tests or 50 ODIs and have held a similar position with a full member Test nation for a minimum of two years. The Indian Cricket Board has also made it clear that it is looking for one coach to lead Team India in all three formats, meaning that the BCCI isn’t in favour of a split coaching system like the one adopted by the English and Pakistan cricket boards.

Explaining the responsibilities of the new head coach in a release, BCCI stated, “The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a world-class Indian cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders with their approach to the game.”

No more Rahul Dravid?

Jay Shah had previously said that current head coach Rahul Dravid was also eligible to reapply. Meanwhile, the BCCI top executive had also stated that he wasn’t sure if the new head coach for Men in Blue will be of Indian or foreign origin.

Shah said, “Rahul Dravid’s tenure is coming to an end. He has to reapply if he has to continue. We are looking for a long-term coach, for three years,”

  • India T20 WC Squad LIVE Updates: Pathan backs “captain” Rohit!

Irfan Pathan feels Rohit Sharma is currently the best individual to lead the team into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

“As far as captaincy is concerned, he is the best leader you have. We always talk about the players, but leadership is a different thing. We saw what happened in this IPL with quite a few captains; it’s not easy. Captaining a side in cricket still holds great value and this is why we always talk highly about Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has been rated highly by the entire world for the reason that it’s such a tough job, and he made it very simple. And after Mahendra Singh Dhoni, when test matches came, Virat was your best captain ever, the way he took the team in front. So the leadership was there for the world to see how he was making an impact in test cricket. But when it comes to recent white ball cricket, you can’t look beyond Rohit Sharma. He is your best leader, even with the bench strength considered. In the future, they will be keeping an eye on Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as far as captaincy is concerned. Now we have Hardik Pandya as the Vice Captain, Rishabh Pant is also there in your leadership role group if he gets going because he was there in the leadership role before he got injured. So there are three or four ready guys, but Rohit is the number one.”

India T20 WC Squad LIVE Updates: Sangakkara backs selectors! Amid criticism over the squad selection, former Sri Lanka captain and Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara feels India’s squad is strong and balanced.

“It’s an extremely strong squad. They’ve got their batting covered, they’ve got their all-rounders in. They’ve got very high-quality spin and they’ve got very good combinations that they can play. Knowing the conditions there, I’m sure Rahul (Dravid) and Rohit (Sharma) have a good idea of what the squad should be to play the cricket they want in the World Cup. And they’ll be having two or three different combinations, depending on whether they want a deeper batting line-up or more strength in their bowling. But it’s a well-balanced squad, a very strong squad, and India’s always been very strong in international tournaments,” Sangakarra said ahead of the SRH vs RR IPL 2024 match.

BCCI Press Conference LIVE updates: Hello! Hello and welcome to our live blog of BCCI’s T20 World Cup 2024 press conference.

Day after Virat Kohli’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup, Ruturaj Gaikwad passes him in the Orange Cap race.

IPL 2024 CSK vs. PBKS: Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his fourth consecutive 50-plus run to cap off an incredible performance in Chennai. After winning the Orange Cap from Virat Kohli, the skipper of CSK amassed 508 runs in ten games.

A day after he was not named in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad became the highest run-getter in IPL 2024, overtaking Virat Kohli in the Orange Cap race. Ruturaj went to the leaderboard position after hitting 62 off 48 balls against PBKS on a pitch that was not entirely conducive for batters at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Ruturaj Gaikwad hit his third successive fifty-plus score as he single-handedly helped the Super Kings post a competitive total of xx in 20 overs. Ruturaj’s effort was praiseworthy as CSK’s middle order failed after a solid opening partnership between the captain and senior campaigner Ajinkya Rahane. Ruturaj’s game awareness was on display as he held the innings together, not opening up his shoulders until the 17th over of the contest, knowing the importance of his wicket.

Who won yesterday’s IPL match? Top highlights of last night’s CSK vs PBKS match.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was batting on 45 off 42 balls at the end of the 16th over, showing no signs of weakness in the face of pressure from the scoreboard. Ruturaj Gaikwad took full advantage of a free hit following a no-ball from PBKS captain Sam Curran to hit the first six of the CSK innings in the 17th over. As the hosts amassed 20 runs in the over, the CSK captain gave their innings the much-needed boost by hitting Curran for two sixes and a boundary.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was out for 62 in the eighteenth over, just as he was about to step on the gas. Ruturaj attempted to clear space and smash one over the cover fielder but was unable to handle a yorker-length ball from Arshdeep.

Ruturaj Gaikwad became the top run scorer by surpassing Virat Kohli’s 500 runs. Ruturaj has continued his incredible form at the bat; in the last five games at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, he has scored 46, 67 not out, 108 not out, 98, and 62. A day after the announcement of India’s 15-man T20 World Cup team, Ruturaj rose to the top of the rankings. Despite his prior contributions to the T20I side, Ruturaj was not included in the Indian 15-man squad.

MOST RUNS IN IPL 2024

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) – 509 runs in 10 matches
2. Virat Kohli (RCB) – 500 runs in 10 matches
3. Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 418 runs in 10 matches
4. KL Rahul (LSG) – 406 runs in 10 matches
5. Rishabh Pant (DC) – 398 runs in 11 matches

IPL 2024 CSK vs. PBKS were restricted 162 for 7 despite an 11-ball 14 from MS Dhoni, who was dismissed for the first time in the season when he was run out in the final delivery of their innings.

Rahul Chahar’s 19th over made it difficult for CSK to push their total over 170 as the leg-spinner kept MS Dhoni quiet, conceding just 3 runs. Arshdeep Singh conceded 13 in the last over, but PBKS still kept things tight.

CSK managed just 47 runs between overs 7 and 15 as Shivam Dube getting out for a first-ball duck robbed the home team of the middle-overs madness.
