JEE Main 2024 Girls Topper Sanvi Jain Shares Her Challenges.

Many homes were happy when the JEE Mains 2024 session 2 results were recently announced. However, the fact that just two candidates—Sanvi Jain from Karnataka and Shayna Sinha from Delhi—out of the 56 who received a perfect 100 NTA score this year served as more evidence that men predominate in the engineering field.

Overcoming Challenges to Achieve Success

Sanvi Jain, who secured the 34th rank, is one of the two female toppers.

In an interview with JEE Nexus by Unacademy, she discussed the challenges she encountered during her preparation for the exams. Jain opened up about the difficulties she faced while getting ready for the tests.

She said, “I had both ups and downs. Sometimes, I would not score well; then, I would have to see where I was going wrong in my concepts. Sometimes, I faced hardships while studying organic chemistry as it required me to memorize a lot. I did face some challenges, but I succeeded.”

JEE Main 2024

Admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IT), and other centrally supported technical institutes is through the JEE (Main) exam.

It is a requirement for the JEE (Advanced), registration which opens on Sunday. The JEE (Advanced) exam is only open to applicants who, based on their JEE (Main) result, reach the NTA cut-off.

Why did Bajaj Finance shares fall 8% in Q4 even though PAT and NII increased by double digits year over year?

Fifty-six applicants received a flawless score of 100 in the JEE Mains 2024. Of these applicants, seven each from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, six from Delhi, and fifteen from Telangana. The son of a farmer from Washim in Maharashtra, Nilkrishna Gajare, achieved the highest rank, AIR 1.

Aspiring students should establish specific goals and prepare consistently and continuously for those goals, according to Gajare. To prevent feeling overburdened, he emphasizes the need to study subjects that genuinely interest you and suggests maintaining constant and ongoing preparation.

Why did Bajaj Finance shares fall 8% in Q4 even though PAT and NII increased by double digits year over year?

Friday’s intraday trading saw an 8% decline of Bajaj Finance shares. They underperformed the benchmark Sensex, which gained almost 24% during the same period, with gains of only approximately 20% for the past year (through April 25).

The day after the company’s Q4 results were disclosed, Friday, April 26, saw a nearly 8% decline in Bajaj Finance shares. Following a previous closing of ₹7,293.90, Bajaj Finance shares began at ₹7,008.60. However, they plummeted as high as 7.8% to ₹6,728 on the BSE. At ₹6,743.45 a share, Bajaj Finance shares had a 7.55 percent decrease in trading at about noon. At that point, the equity benchmark Sensex was down 0.26 percent, trading at 74,147.56.

Why did Bajaj Finance shares tank?

For Q4FY24, Bajaj Finance reported a growth in net interest income and a solid profit. Nevertheless, it seems that investors were alarmed by the lender’s Q4 net interest margin shrinkage.

Thursday, April 25, after market hours, Bajaj Finance announced a 21% YoY increase in consolidated net profit of ₹3,825 crore for Q4FY24.

In Q4 of FY24, its net interest income (NII) increased by 28% YoY to ₹8,013 crore from ₹6,254 crore in Q4 of FY23.

Nonetheless, compared to Q3, the lender’s net interest margin (NIM) decreased by 21 basis points (bps) in Q4.

Non-performing assets, or gross NPA, were 0.85% and 0.37 percent, respectively, as of March 31, 2024, compared to 0.94 and 0.34 percent, on the same date in 2023.

As of the close on April 25, Bajaj Finance’s share price has gained about 20 percent over the last year, underperforming the benchmark Sensex, which has gained about 24 percent in the same period.

Motilal Oswal downgrades Bajaj Finance stock

Despite a strong PAT CAGR of almost 25% over FY24-FY26E and a respectable RoA (return on assets) and RoE (return on equity) of 4.3% and 22%, respectively, in FY26E, brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services downgraded Bajaj Finance stock to a “neutral” after the Q4 results, pegging a target price of ₹7,800.

“Management’s guidance for FY25 is below its long-term guidance on multiple metrics such as AUM growth, credit costs, RoA, and RoE,” Motilal Oswal stated.

“Up until now, the secular growth segments have been Bajaj Finance’s main product categories. Though it has a well-diversified product mix, its entry into several more recent items, including vehicles, tractors, CVs, and even MFI, could (in the future) render its growth subject to cyclicality, according to the brokerage firm.

But Kotak Institutional Equities, which has a target price of ₹7,800, has stuck with its ‘add’ call on the company.

The brokerage firm stated that Bajaj Finance’s Q4FY24 earnings were consistent with the company’s strong 34% loan growth at the end of the year, despite a low base and NIM compression.

Man City humbles Brighton to keep pressure on Arsenal.

“The normalization in business matrices (growth in the mid-20s, NIM compression due to rising rates and shifting business mix, a reversion in credit costs albeit improving operating leverage) will put near-term pressure and drive earnings cuts, even as overall performance remains healthy,” stated Kotak.

OTT News: ‘The Family Star’ is available on popular OTT. When did it start to stream?

The Family Star OTT News: Vijay Deverakonda plays the lead in the newest movie, “The Family Star.” The audience was not pleased with the movie that was launched on this month’s fifth. Given that the film’s theatrical run has just concluded, the OTT release date has been set.

The latest film “Family Star,” featuring hero Vijay Deverakonda, is available on OTT News. This film, which was directed by Parasuram Petla and produced by Dil Raju, fell short of expectations. This film also serves as a major test for Vijay Deverakonda’s celebrity. The first day’s minimum number of openers for this film was not met. ‘The Family Star’ is the lowest-grossing movie of Vijay Deverakonda’s career at the box office. After it runs in theaters, the movie will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime starting at midnight today. This time, an official statement was made public. Telugu and Tamil versions of the film will be accessible on Amazon Prime.

Man City humbles Brighton to keep pressure on Arsenal.

When “Family Star” was released on April 5, it did not meet the expectations of the family audience as a clean family film. Despite having a compelling tale, the film was not well received by viewers because it felt like a daily serial. The on-screen chemistry between Vijay Devarakonda and Mrinal Sen was excellent in this film. Dil Raju is the producer of this film, working under the Sri Venkateswara Creations Production label. Those who were unable to see the film in theaters have the option to view it on an over-the-top platform.

Under the name Sri Venkateswara Creations, Dil Raju and Shirish created the movie on a massive scale. The music for this film was composed by Gopi Sundar, who also wrote the music for the film Geetha Govindam. The creative producer in this case was Vasu Verma. Regarding Vijay Devarakonda’s movies, he welcomed the crowd with “Khushi,” which came out the previous year. Before that, Puri Jagannath directed the film “Liger,” which introduced him to an Indian audience nationwide. Gautham will shortly be welcomed with the Tinnanuri film. In this film, he will play a police officer for the first time.

SRH vs.RCB 2024: Virat Kohli reaches 400 runs this season and smacks his third half-century in the IPL.

Virat Kohli hammered a half-century in 37 balls in the match on Thursday between SRH vs. RCB 2024.

Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) broke the previous record when he scored his third half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. At this point in the IPL season, he has scored 400 runs.

The former captain of India also amassed 4,000 runs in the richest T20 event in the globe while opening the innings. Having played nine IPL 2024 matches, Kohli’s average is 61.43. In nine games this season, Kohli has amassed 430 runs, with the top score being 113*.

However, Jaydev Unadkat’s slower bouncer quickly had Kohli at 51. While attempting a pull shot, Kohli struck a deep square leg instead. After hitting 51 runs off 43 deliveries, the star hitter left the game.

In the contest on Thursday, Virat Kohli hammered a half-century in 37 balls. After Rajat Patidar left after hitting 50 runs off 20 balls, he gripped one end tightly.

Despite the setbacks, RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL match on Thursday, thanks to Virat Kohli’s tenacious fifty and Rajat Patidar’s forceful fifty off twenty.

Star batsman Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis chose to bat first, and they made sure to give RCB a good start with the bat as they pummelled the SRH spinners all over the pitch.

T Natarajan was subsequently introduced into the attack by captain Pat Cummins, and the bowler handed his side a much-needed breakthrough when he removed RCB captain Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis was defeated by Natarajan’s slower bouncer.

Cummins pulled Mayank Markande into the attack, and it paid off as he removed Will Jacks, who was never looking steady at the crease.

In Mayank Markande’s third over of the evening, Rajat Patidar unleashed a breathtaking assault, hitting the bowler for 27 runs. Along with hitting fifty in just 19 balls, star batsman Patidar also mentioned his partnership of fifty with Kohli.

After reaching fifty, Jaydev Unadkat took the crucial wicket for SRH by getting rid of the highly effective Patidar on the very next ball.

After hitting 51 runs in 43 deliveries, Kohli was removed by Unadkat with a weak shot, despite smashing a tenacious fifty within 37 balls. Taking out Mahipal Lomror, Unadkat claimed his third wicket of the evening in his 100th IPL encounter.

After losing wickets at regular intervals, RCB was successful in scoring 206/7 in 20 overs.

Man City humbles Brighton to keep pressure on Arsenal.

One day after Liverpool’s hopes of winning the title were severely damaged by a 2-0 loss at Everton, Man City continued to put pressure on leaders Arsenal with a strong performance that left them one point behind the London team with one game remaining.

Phil Foden struck twice as Manchester City stepped up their bid for a fourth Premier League crown in a row with a ruthless 4-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

One day after Liverpool’s hopes of winning the title were severely damaged by a 2-0 loss at Everton, City continued to put pressure on leaders Arsenal with a strong performance that left them one point behind the London team with one game remaining.

“The statement consists of three points,” Sky Sports was informed by City manager Pep Guardiola. “We are aware of how close the margins are; five games are remaining. Every game must be won by us. We get closer with every game.”

It’s still very much a three-team competition, he continued.

“What happened to Liverpool, two defeats in a row, it can happen to Arsenal, it can happen to us,” Guardiola stated. The fact that we are still there is what matters. There are numerous games available.

In the seventeenth minute, Kevin De Bruyne’s incredible diving header gave City—who was without top scorer Erling Haaland due to injury—the lead.

It doesn’t occur very frequently, does it? After scoring his first headed goal in the Premier League, De Bruyne remarked, “I think the only way I could reach it was jumping to the ball, and it goes in like a little lob, but it’s not something I’m good at.”

India election 2024 phase 2: Who votes and what’s at stake?

India election 2024 phase 2: In the second stage of the biggest election in history, 88 constituencies spread over 13 states will cast ballots on April 26.

On April 26, the second of seven phases of India’s massive parliamentary elections will take place, with all eyes on the southern states of Kerala and Karnataka.

A former chief of India’s main opposition who has never won a general election for his party, a former top UN official, and a former Bollywood star who is running for a third term but has let her supporters down by not showing up in person are among the candidates in round two.

On April 19, India’s general elections for the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, the country’s lower house of parliament, began. On June 4, the outcomes of the biggest democratic election in history will be made public.

India boasts the world’s largest electorate, with 969 million registered voters, greater than the combined populations of the US, the EU, and Russia.

In addition to a plethora of regional and national contenders, the two primary alliances are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), a coalition of 28 parties united by the primary opposition Indian National Congress to depose the BJP.

When does voting start and end?

Voting will start at 7 am (01:30 GMT) and end at 6 pm (12:30 GMT). Voters already in the queue by the time polls close will get to vote even if that means keeping polling stations open longer.

Who votes in phase 2?

Voters from these 88 constituencies from 13 states and union territories will go to the ballot box:

  • Kerala: All 20 of the southern state’s seats
  • Rajasthan: 13 of the western state’s 25 seats
  • Karnataka: 14 of the southern state’s 28 seats
  • Uttar Pradesh: Eight of the northern state’s 80 seats
  • Madhya Pradesh: Six of the central state’s 29 seats
  • Assam: Five of the eastern state’s 14 seats
  • Chhattisgarh: Three of the central state’s 11 seats
  • Bihar: Five of the eastern state’s 40 seats
  • Maharashtra: Eight of the western state’s 48 seats
  • West Bengal: Three of the eastern state’s 42 seats
  • Tripura: One of the northeastern state’s two seats

  • Manipur: Parts of one of the northeastern state’s two seats, which voted in the first phase, will also vote on April 26.

Which major groups are there?

Wayanad, Kerala: Renowned opposition leader Rahul Gandhi will square off against Communist Party of India left-wing challenger Annie Raja in an attempt to retain the seat that elected him in 2019. Though they are opponents in Kerala, Gandhi’s Congress and the Communists are both a part of the national opposition INDIA coalition. Gandhi is a past prime minister’s son, grandson, and great-grandson, although the Congress party has lost handily to the BJP thrice. K Surendran, the state president of the BJP, is also a candidate. Since the 2009 elections, Wayanad has been a stronghold for the Congress. The only significant Indian state without a single BJP MP elected to parliament is Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Senior Congressman Shashi Tharoor, a writer, former UN undersecretary-general, and minister, is running for reelection a fourth time. The junior information technology minister from the BJP, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, is his biggest rival. The ruling party is expecting to win against all odds, as it lacks both the numbers and the proof of widespread support. In this constituency, the BJP has trailed the Congress in the last two general elections. Kerala’s population is composed of 27% Muslims, 18% Christians, and 55% Hindus. However, the Hindu nationalist BJP has found it difficult to get even the majority of the Hindu vote in Kerala thus far.

Mandya, Karnataka: The BJP has never won the Mandya seat in southern Karnataka. While Modi boasted of a target of crossing the 400-seat mark on the back of his alliance this time, only strong wins in southern India can make that possible. The BJP did win 25 of the state’s 28 seats in the 2019 general elections and also ruled at the state level from 2008 to 2013, and from 2018 to 2023. But the Congress, which is back in power in Karnataka, is hoping to garner a large victory as it has campaigned against the government, saying it discriminates against the southern states, which get few resources from the federal government. The Congress candidate, Venkataramane Gowda – also known as Star Chandru – is up against former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal Secular, an ally of the BJP.

Mathura, Uttar Pradesh: This seat has been held by BJP actor Hema Malini from Bollywood since 2014. She is up against Mukesh Dhangar, the state president of the Congress. BJP stronghold Mathura, like with other cities in the most populous state in India, is home to mosques that the party of Modi alleges were constructed on top of destroyed temples. It is the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura, built in the 17th century. Mathura might support the BJP, but Malini is more well-known for not visiting the area, where it is said that she only shows up during election seasons.

Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh: From this area, former BJP minister Mahesh Sharma has won thrice. Mohammed Akhlaq was lynched in this constituency’s village of Bisahda in 2015 after it was alleged that he had stolen and killed a cow. Because of the rumor, the 52-year-old Muslim ironsmith was pulled from his house and killed by beating. Prime Minister Modi has come under fire recently for inciting anti-Muslim sentiment by comparing the Muslim population to “infiltrators.” The prime minister made remarks during an election rally in the western state of Rajasthan that were generally interpreted as a reference to the Muslim minority. He added that the opposition sought to give money to “those who have many children.”

Who rules states that vote in the second phase?

  • Kerala is governed by a left-wing alliance led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which is part of INDIA.
  • The BJP governs Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
  • The BJP rules through alliances in Bihar and Maharashtra.
  • The Congress governs Karnataka.
  • West Bengal is governed by the All India Trinamool Congress Party, a part of INDIA.

Who won these Lok Sabha seats in 2019?

  • In the last Lok Sabha election, Congress-led alliances United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, won 23 of the 88 seats that will vote on April 26. Several parties from the UPA are now part of the INDIA bloc.
  • The BJP-led NDA won 62 of the seats in 2019.
  • Two independent candidates won seats in 2019 in Karnataka and Maharashtra each. The Bahujan Samaj Party took one seat in Uttar Pradesh.
  • A delimitation exercise in Assam last year changed the organization of constituencies. In 2019, Assam had a constituency called the Autonomous District which comprised Diphu as an assembly segment among others. Diphu has now replaced the Autonomous District as a constituency in 2024. The BJP won the Autonomous District in 2019. Additionally, Darrang-Udalguri was previously called Mangaldoi, which the BJP won.

How much of India has voted so far?

102 constituencies across 21 states cast ballots in the election’s first round on April 19. All seats in Tamil Nadu, together with those in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry, have ended voting.

Phase one of the election saw voting for both of Manipur’s seats; phase two will see voting in Outer Manipur twice.

India General Elections 2024: South is in focus as Modi aims to win the Lok Sabha.

India General Elections 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading his campaign to win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and as the Indian political scene heats up, all eyes are on the South. At this critical juncture in Indian politics, the battleground moves towards the southern states amid a frenzy of activity and expectation.

With an eye on expanding its political footprint beyond its conventional strongholds in the North and West, Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is positioning itself strategically in the run-up to the elections to seize important constituencies in the southern regions. There is a lot on the line, as the BJP needs a good performance in the South to maintain its grasp on the national leadership.

  • Polls have opened in the second of the seven-phase India General Elections 2024 with 13 states voting for 88 seats in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s Parliament.
  • The first phase of the vote was held on April 19 in 102 constituencies across 21 states and union territories.
  • The elections primarily pit the National Democratic Alliance, led by two-time Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, spearheaded by the main opposition party, the Indian National Congress.
  • Voters will elect representatives to fill 543 seats of the Lok Sabha. The party or coalition that secures a majority will form the next government.
  • About 969 million registered voters are eligible to participate in the world’s largest democratic exercise over six weeks. The results will be announced on June 4.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 2 Live Results: Up to 9 AM, 9.3% of voters were registered in 13 states and the District of Columbia.

Modi wants to turn India election into a Hindu-Muslim war

As defenders of Hindu interests, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have opted to run in this seven-phase national election.

Additionally, they have said unequivocally that safeguarding Hindu interests entails defending them against Muslims.

They claim that the opposition Congress party is working with the Muslim community to steal the money and privileges of the Hindu majority and give them to Muslims, putting them in danger.

The prime minister made a clear reference to Muslims when he said at a rally in Rajasthan on Sunday that the opposition would seize Hindu riches and give it to those “who have more children.” He continued by referring to the Muslim community as “infiltrators.”

There was indignation over Modi’s remarks in several places. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has been urged to take action against him for his hate speech by individuals and organizations from all throughout the nation.

Sam Pitroda favors succession taxes in India and claims that Congress is “distributing wealth in the interest of people.”

How do Muslims in India feel about the general election?

Before the multi-stage national election that is expected to hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP government another term in power, Muslims in India share with Al Jazeera their hopes, concerns, and opinions.

How dubious YouTube ‘news’ channels boosted Modi

With over 460 million users, YouTube’s largest market is India, where four out of every five internet users access the platform.

YouTube is becoming an increasingly popular source of news for Indians, but not all of the content is newsworthy. Several of the most well-known YouTube channels in India are spreading misinformation and inciting Islamophobia; they frequently support PM Modi and his BJP while disparaging opposition figures and opponents.

These channels are distinct since they identify themselves as “news” channels and purport to offer fact-based reporting. However, the actual situation is distinct.

How is the government formed after the election?

The lower house’s party with a simple majority of 273 seats or more is invited to form a government and appoint its prime minister. The president of India will request that the leading party attempt to form a coalition if no one party crosses that barrier.

In the past, this has resulted in days or even weeks of heated horse trading and discussions between the parties in an attempt to come to a consensus.

‘We exist’: A Himayalan hamlet, forgotten by Indian democracy

Jiten Toto, a native of Totopara in West Bengal state, says he has little faith that anything would change in India during the election. The people living in this small but distinct area of the nation believe they have been ignored for too long by the largest democracy in the world.

Approximately 75% of the estimated 1,670 Toto population is entitled to vote, making them one of the world’s smallest tribes.

Many Totos claim that politicians have consistently disregarded their issues because of their tiny number and distant location.

“Not much progress has been made toward our growth. Poor roads and subpar health care are continuing issues, according to Jiten. “After the poll, no political leader has ever visited this location to assess the state of affairs.”

When will the results be announced?

It is illegal under Indian law to publish exit poll data while an election is in progress. Hence, any indication of which way the vote is trending will only come after the last phase of voting concludes on June 1.

Formal ballot counting begins three days later on June 4, though the use of electronic voting machines means tallying will be quick. Results should be announced on the same day.

India General Elections 2024

Can Modi win a historic third term?

If Modi wins, he will be only the second Indian leader to retain power for a third term after Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first prime minister.

The BJP controls much of Hindi-speaking northern and central India but is now trying to gain a foothold in the east and south.

Its toughest challenge in the second phase is Kerala, where voting is being held on all 20 seats.

What happened in Phase 1?

The first of the seven phases of the mammoth Indian general election took place on April 19 when 102 seats across 21 states and union territories voted.

For some states such as Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand, elections were held on all the seats in the first phase. Key northern states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are voting in all phases.

According to India’s election body, the voter turnout in the first phase was 60 percent.

India General Elections 2024

India General Elections 2024

As Prime Minister Modi and his party aim to win the Lok Sabha, the South is the center of attention in the grand finale of the 2024 India General Elections. This election marks a turning point in India’s democratic history because of the dynamic interaction of regional dynamics, socioeconomic concerns, and political strategies in the electoral environment. The results of this election will not only influence future governance but also represent the desires and decisions of millions of Indian citizens, as the country anxiously awaits the decision. IPL 2024 Highlights: RCB vs. SRH: Royal Challengers Bengaluru beats Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs.

IPL 2024 RCB vs. SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins stayed upbeat following his team’s 35-run defeat to the Royal Challenge Bangalore. He urged the group to concentrate on their strengths.

After Sunrisers Hyderabad’s April 25 loss to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 35 runs, captain Pat Cummins sent out encouraging words for his team.

“It was not the best night. We were a little off with the ball and, regrettably, lost a couple of wickets during our innings. I believe our attacking style of cricket is our strongest suit. It won’t function in every game. Even though things didn’t go our way in the first one or two games, we were still able to secure a respectable total. “I still believe that this is the right path for our boys,” Cummins stated following the match.

“The boys have been going really well,” he continued. Since this is T20 cricket, you cannot expect to win every match. Avoid thinking about this too much.

The 2020 rape judgment of Harvey Weinstein is overturned by a New York appellate court.

RCB vs SRH IPL 2024

RCB’s Rajat Patidar scored 50 runs off 20 balls with five sixes in his second straight half-century, while Kohli scored 51 off 43 balls. The RCB set SRH a target of 206. However, the heavy-hitting Hyderabad batting scored 171-8 (20 overs) against one of the weakest bowling attacks in the tournament. Australian Travis Head fell for just one run, Abhishek Sharma did get a start, scoring 31 off 13 balls, however, he too was caught behind in the fourth over. The SRH’s top order Aiden Markram was out for seven, while hard-hitting Heinrich Klaasen also fell for the same total. Both were out to part-time left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh, who finished with figures of 2-40 in three overs.

After this game, Bengaluru drops to 10th place in the points table with four points, while Hyderabad moves up to third place, level on 10 points with both the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants.

The 2020 rape judgment of Harvey Weinstein is overturned by a New York appellate court.

The decision by the state Court of Appeals reopens a sad chapter in America’s reckoning with prominent people’s sexual misconduct—a period that started in 2017 with a barrage of accusations against Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction was reversed by New York’s highest court on Thursday. The court determined that the judge at the historic #MeToo trial unfairly favored the former movie tycoon by making incorrect decisions, including letting women testify about allegations that were unrelated to the case.
The State Court of Appeals’ decision reopens a difficult chapter in America’s history dealing with prominent people’s sexual misconduct—a period that started in 2017 with a wave of accusations against Harvey Weinstein. The judge mandated a fresh trial. On the witness stand, his accusers might be made to relive their horrors once more.

Adrian Newey, Red Bull Design chief, is not Departing, according to sources.

Following his conviction on charges of criminal sex act for forcing a TV and film production assistant to perform oral sex on him in 2006 and rape in the third degree for attacking an aspiring actress in 2013, Weinstein, 72, has been serving a 23-year term in a New York jail.
He was found guilty of a second rape in Los Angeles in 2022 and given a 16-year prison sentence; as a result, he will remain behind bars. Regarding allegations involving one of the women who testified in New York, Weinstein was found not guilty in Los Angeles.
Weinstein’s attorneys contended that the prosecution’s victories against Judge James Burke’s decisions had made the trial into 1-800-GET-HARVEY.

The reversal of Weinstein’s conviction is the second major #MeToo setback in the last two years after the US Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a Pennsylvania court decision to throw out Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction.

Weinstein’s conviction stood for more than four years, heralded by activists and advocates as a milestone achievement, but dissected just as quickly by his lawyers and, later, the Court of Appeals when it heard arguments on the matter in February.
