Can RCB break the Chennai jinx?

The ISRO’s “Pushpak” RLV develop successfully completes its landing test!

According to ISRO, the landing experiment took place near Challakere, Karnataka, at around seven in the morning.

The Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) known as “Pushpak” of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will successfully land on Friday from the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) in Challakere, Karnataka.

The rocket was launched at around 7 am from the Chalakere Runway.

This was the RLV’s third landing mission, named for the fabled spacecraft mentioned in the Ramayana. The space agency had completed prior flights in 2016 and April of the previous year with success.

An Indian Air Force helicopter lifted the launch vehicle to a height of approximately 4.5 kilometers, and upon reaching the predefined pillbox boundaries, it was released.

The mission is a component of ISRO’s endeavors to “develop essential technologies for a fully reusable launch vehicle to enable low-cost access to space,” as stated by the space agency.

ISRO Chairperson S Somanath stated, “The Pushpak launch vehicle is India’s bold attempt to make access to space most affordable,” as reported by NDTV. The most costly component, the upper stage, which contains all the pricey electronics, is made reusable by returning it safely to Earth. This is India’s futuristic Reusable Launch Vehicle. Eventually, it might even be able to retrieve satellites from orbit for repair or refuel them while they were in orbit. Pushpak is one step towards India’s goal of reducing space junk.”

According to India Today, the Pushpak RLV is intended to be a fully reusable, all-rocket single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) vehicle. Major components including the modified DC-XA flight demonstrator, the X-33 advanced technology demonstrator, and the X-34 testbed technology demonstrator are also included.

“Pushpak” has two delta wings, two vertical tails, a nose cap, and a fuselage (body), according to ISRO. Additionally, it has Elevons and Rudder, two symmetrically positioned active control surfaces.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was informed by Somnath about the RLV mission, which is estimated to have cost ₹100, in February when he was visiting the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Trivandrum.

From March 18–20, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi will host the Startup Mahakumbh. Apex industry associations Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) and Bootstrap Incubation & Advisory Foundation together conduct the event. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) provides support for this initiative.

The event was highlighted by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal last month, who emphasized how Indian entrepreneurs are transforming industries and establishing themselves as the backbone of the national economy. In order to make India a developed country by 2047, he stressed that connecting an ambitious India with the startup ecosystem will spur economic growth in the years preceding India’s 100th anniversary of independence, or Amrit Kaal.

The commerce and industry ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the event has so far drawn participation from prominent investors, innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs in addition to hosting over 2,000 startups, over 1,000 investors, more than 100 unicorns, 300 incubators and accelerators, 3,000 delegates, 3,000 future entrepreneurs, and over 50,000 business visitors from across the nation.

According to the annual Unstop Talent Report 2024, as many as 91 percent of students believe their college curricula offer an adequate level of preparedness for a job, whereas 66 percent of recruiters and 42 percent of university partners feel the skill gap and lack of preparation are major challenges in campus recruitment.

The report found that 88 percent of HR practitioners expressed a strong preference for skill-based hiring, prioritizing candidates’ abilities over other factors such as experience, academics, references, internships, and projects.

The findings are based on responses gathered from an extensive survey involving over 11,000 students, university partners, and human resource practitioners across the country.Additional insights were also gathered through conversations with HR leaders which divulged their views on employee desires, the role of mentorship, competition, and more.

“By highlighting the preferences and concerns of students and HR professionals, we aim to bridge the gap between talent supply and demand, enabling more informed decision-making and fostering a more efficient and effective hiring process,” Unstop Founder and CEO Ankit Aggarwal said.

The report further noted that the looming fear of layoffs has prompted three out of five (60 percent) students to prioritize job security overpay hikes. For most of them, in-hand salary remained the most valuable salary component, followed by perks and benefits.

Moreover, a significant percentage of B-school students prefer established and legacy firms, and working for startups has lost its charm.

Further, marketing emerged as the top preferred domain for B-school students, while Finance and Analytics topped the list for Arts and Science students.

In Arts, Science & Commerce, the most common offer for men was ₹6-10 LPA and for women was 2-5 LPA.

In B-School, 55 percent of men received an offer of over ₹16 LPA, but only 45 percent of women received an offer above ₹16 LPA, the report said.
