Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged at the top spot on the ‘Most Powerful Indians 2024’ list published by The Indian Express. In the IE 100 list of 2024, the top 10 names comprise Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)/ Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders primarily. Besides, billionaire Gautam Adani and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud have also been listed among the top 10 powerful Indians.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stood at the 16th spot on the IE 100 powerful Indians list in 2024 and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo in the 18th position.

Here’s a list of the top 10 powerful Indians in 2024 as per The Indian Express report:

1. NARENDRA MODI

According to the English daily, PM Modi is holding the top position on this list because he has only grown taller and stronger with every passing year. PM Modi has 95.6 million followers on the X platform, the highest among all the world leaders.

2. AMIT SHAH

After PM Narendra Modi, another powerful Indian is Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is known to be a chief strategist of the BJP under whom the party achieved a landslide victory in the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh Legislative elections in December 2023.

3. MOHAN BHAGWAT

The RSS Sarsanghchalak has continued to celebrate his uninterrupted innings in power. His presence beside PM Modi during the Ram Temple consecration ceremony of 22 January sent a powerful signal of his position in the NDA-BJP alliance.

4. DY CHANDRACHUD

Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud-led Bench settled legal doubts over the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union, ruling in favour of the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370. In the election year, every verdict will be closely watched on how he handles cases of judicial review or reshapes collegium. DY Chandrachud’s stint will end in November.

5. S JAISHANKAR

Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar has impressed citizens with his strong diplomatic skills. His sharp retorts during Russia’s oil sanctions and the Khalistan issue have put India in a stronger position in the game of global diplomacy.

6. YOGI ADITYANATH

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is one of the most cardinal leaders in the BJP as his state has the largest number of Lok Sabha constituencies. Centre is allocating billions of dollars for the development of Uttar Pradesh while Adityanath is wooing his Hindu voters with a focus on temple constructions in the state.

7. RAJNATH SINGH

The Union Defence Minister has been PM Modi’s seniormost colleague in the Cabinet. Singh also enjoys goodwill among politicians across party lines for his ‘troubleshooter’ image.

8. NIRMALA SITHARAMAN

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is India’s longest-serving woman FM. Under her leadership, India’s economy registered 7% growth for three years in a row.

9. JP NADDA

Nadda is the main man who is leading the BJP organisation. He has “held his own and gained the trust of the leadership and the rank and file, without coming across as someone trying to over project himself”, Indian Express mentioned.

10. GAUTAM ADANI

The boss of the Adani Group empire with a net worth of $101 billion is the only business tycoon among the top 10 powerful Indians. Adani-led conglomerate has made rapid progress through a string of acquisitions and greenfield projects. Adani’s closest competitor billionaire Mukesh Ambani was on the 11th rank on IE 100 powerful Indians list. Ambani’s net worth is $109 billion as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Adani Defence & Aerospace starts South Asia’s largest Ammunition & missiles complex in Kanpur!

Billionaire Gautam Adani’s conglomerate started two defense facilities in Kanpur this week at an investment of 30 billion rupees.

In a boost to India’s defence capabilities, the country’s leading private sector defence manufacturer Adani Defence & Aerospace launched two facilities dedicated to the production of ammunition and missiles in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The mega facilities, touted as South Asia’s largest, were inaugurated on Monday by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande, Lt Gen N. S. Raja Subramani in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Defence and Uttar Pradesh government.

Spanning over 500 acres, the facility located in Kanpur is set to emerge as one of the largest integrated ammunition manufacturing complexes in South Asia. It is geared to produce a diverse range of high-quality small, medium, and large calibre ammunition catering to the needs of the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and police. The facility has already commenced production, starting with small calibre ammunition, with an initial output estimated to cover 25% of India’s annual requirement, totalling 150 million rounds.

The unveiling of the facilities coincided with the fifth anniversary of the Balakot airstrike ‘Operation Bandar’, a historic operation by the Indian Air Force that was a testimony to India’s strategic assertiveness over external threats.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, “This is a moment of great pride. The facility is a testimony to Uttar Pradesh’s transformation into an industrial powerhouse and our commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. Adani Defence & Aerospace has made the largest investment in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, which will play a crucial role in developing a vibrant defence ecosystem. It is encouraging to see the commencement of operations within 18 months of allocating land. It will be a proud moment when ammunition and missiles produced in these facilities will help in securing the nation.”

Gen Manoj Pande underscored the importance of self-reliance in missiles and ammunition, particularly in light of recent geopolitical developments. He praised Adani Defence & Aerospace’s substantial investments and dedication to indigenizing critical defence technologies, signaling a significant milestone in India’s journey towards self-sufficiency in the defence sector.

“Recent geopolitical events have reemphasized the need for a reliable supply from internal sources for ammunition in preparedness for a long-drawn conflict. Such large investments and willingness of Adani Defence & Aerospace to indigenize critical technologies have built confidence in the users to depend on Indian private industry for strategic military supplies. This complex is a major milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in the defence sector,” he said.

Ram Mandir Inauguration: Ayodhya set for grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony today!

The Central Government announced on Thursday that all its offices will be closed for half a day on January 22!

The Pran Prathistha ceremony will be held on Monday in the temple town of Ayodhya amid tight security. The historic ritual of ‘Pran Pratistha’ of Ram Lalla will take place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saints, and a host of distinguished guests.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announced on Sunday that the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony will be marked by a dazzling musical event titled ‘Mangal Dhwani’. The soiree, featuring some of the biggest names in the world of music, will be staged at 10 am.

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Shri Ram Lalla at Ayodhya Temple will be held at 12:30 pm. Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh has been decked up with posters and flags of Lord Ram while cities across the country have been decorated with lights, huge cutouts of Lord Ram and posters bearing religious slogans related to Lord Ram.

Many states have announced a holiday for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are among them. In Delhi, LG VK Saxena on Saturday approved the closure of government offices and educational institutions for half day till 2:30 PM on January 22.

The Uttar Pradesh government has tightened security in the city by setting up a dial 112 monitoring centre at Lata Mangeshkar Chowk. Uttar Pradesh Police Department authorities said on Sunday that over 13 thousand security personnel have been deployed in and around Ayodhya to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the mega temple event.

Speaking to ANI, Special DG Prashant Kumar said, “This is a significant undertaking for the UP Police. It poses both a challenge and an opportunity. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place, including traffic diversions from surrounding districts. Only authorised vehicles are permitted to enter Ayodhya starting tomorrow.”

Besides, elaborate seating arrangements have been made for invitees. There will be a sector-wise deployment of officials and personnel overseeing the security and arrangements.

The entire district is equipped with around 10,000 CCTV cameras, and coordination with central and state agencies has been established, the special DG said.

According to officials, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has set up a camp near the shrine in Ayodhya to respond to contingencies, if any. Anti-bomb squad and dog squad teams were also deployed at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, as devotees and dignitaries started pouring into the temple town.

People of the Hindu community across the globe are gearing up for grand celebrations, showcasing their unbridled enthusiasm and reverence for this historic occasion.

Earlier, on Thursday, January 18, the idol of Shri Ram Lalla, carved by renowned Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was placed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Covered with a veil, the first photo of the idol was revealed during the placement ceremony in the sanctum sanctorum on Thursday.
